AMD 7750/7850 B.E Club! - Page 52

Hey guys, just got myself a Zalman 9900NT for my 7750.

Currently stuck at 3.1ghz (15.5x200), currently BSOD @ 1.425v after an hour of Prime so currently reattempting at 1.45v.

Temps are 42C @1.45v, keep in mind it's hot here in Australia haha.

I did try raising the NB/HT from 1.8 to 2ghz without any voltage change, will this give me more stability?

Anyone got any recommendations? I was hoping for 3.3/3.4....

CPU: 7750
MB: GA-MA78GM-US2H
GPU: XFX 4870 1gig
PSU: Antec 500w Neo
OS: Windows 7
RAM: 4gig or some brand haha

Great choice in cooling. I own Zalman myself. I see a few things I will try to help with.
1. There iare GREAT guides here in this forum on "AMD Overclocking", etc...... so always start there.
2. I have read that unnecessarily raising the voltage can cause instability but I have not confirmed this and most ppl I've noticed (including myself) run kumas at around that temp.
3. Is that temp @ load or idle? around 60c to 70c then worry? But that is high for idle........plz post temps and room temp.
4. Do not raise the NB/HT yet until you single out stability issue. Read the guide I referenced and you'll understand a lot more but your on the right track so have fun and make sure to do all your homework! LOL

also I see you have a 780G mobo so I don't know if you have ACC or not. 3.4ghz is GOOD on a 790G board and I would think around 3.2 on a 780G board. Hope this helps

Thanks for the reply, currently running prime 3.1ghz @ 1.45v, seems stable.

Very happy with my new purchase of cooling, currently 45c at full load, but drops to 30-40c load if I clock it at 3.0ghz at 1.35v.

Ye I have a feeling my MB might be the prob, find it strange i need a 0.1volt increase from 3.0 to 3.1 and I just get BSOD at 3.2ghz even with the voltage @ 1.5v (have not gone any further as i think ill start to enter the danger some for a 24/7 over clock).

forgot to mention the ambient temp prob 30C during, no A/C in the study so gets quite sticky....
O.k then that explains your higher temps......I guess. It might not be a bad idea to re-apply your thermal paste and let it set up longer but if you're sure you did it well then I wouldn't worry. Here's my temps while running orthos. Now my ambient temp reading taken from inside the case (digital thermometer $10 [or strip $2] from the pet store) was 22.3C so thats roughly 10 degrees difference, give or take. That much temp could explain the stability issues and as you see I don't like to run mine at 1.5 (I don't see any gain with non-extreme cooling) so maybe some sort of A/C or liquid cooling is in your future. If you can't accomodate the room to be cooler maybe look into submerged pc cooling (oil bath) but while easy to do it is on the extreme side of things. Hope this helps.

3rd times a charm ;-D, ye im not to concerned about the temp as I am running at 1.45v in a hot climate, I was getting 57c stock cooling at 1.35v so its doing it's doing its job. I'll have a go @ 3.2 again this time by raising the NB/HT but am a little worried about my MB temp (refer to my screeny above) would hate to fry the NB....

im in here too!

however that is VERY VERY unstable somedays i can game for hours no probs some days it will just BSOD me every time

im now running W7U and same problem - im using an older board but i would lov to get to 3.3Ghz or Even 3.5Ghz but i just cant get there ideas?
