Dawn of War 2 sucks - Page 6

I was turned off by DoW2 at first because I was expecting a rehash of the first game. I put it down but didn't uninstall, figuring I would give it a shot later. Months later I actually took the time to learn it and appreciate it for what it is. Instead of micro managing building trees you are micro'ing tactics & abilities on the battlefield. You have to adapt to that idea or yes you will 'hate' the game. But then again you would also 'hate' baseball if you went to the stadium expecting to watch football. lol that might sound weak but its the best analogy I can think of. Dow1 and 2 are just completely different games.

Also, a lot of the strategy is played on the loadout screen. Its fun min/maxing the units once you get into it.

Having your Dreadnought mow down an attacking wave of alien critters in a hail of debris & spent shell casings is one of the more satisfying things I've seen in a game lately. Zoom in and watch the battles, its really cool

I'm not even going to answer your question as you clearly have no brains yourself!

I play both quite a lot, over 3000 hours easy between WA + DC, and over 500 on DOW II. The original is a much faster paced RTS no doubt, an requires faster an more micro. Games are over much much quicker too in DOW. I could finish a 4v4 on DC faster than a 1v1 on DOW II.

Average match length is not what I meant. Events and changes happen much faster in DoW2. Map control, skirmishes, casualties, upgrades etc...

I've played a lot of DoW too. Sometimes it's over very quickly if someone makes a mistake and is base rushed. But a lot of battles are just two blobs of units fighting in the middle of the map while reinforcing. DoW2 has that many simultaneous battles effect that we all love from COH. It's just faster and not quite as sophisticated.

High lvl play in DOW is not just a blob fighting in the middle of the map. Right from the start your fighting, capping / decapping. Everything is happening so fast, your fighting for map control all over the map (at the same time too microing units all over the place). Every point matters a huge deal (unlike DOW II, where you can have less points an still win). It's non stop start to finish. More units too. DOW II is much slower paced. Your not fighting non stop you have little battles through out the game mixed with defending VP sitting around just waiting for your opponent to walk into your trap an force him to retreat.

My 2 cent:

I was never a fan of Warhammer 40K, but I've played DOW 1, Dark Crusade, Soulstorm and DOW 2 (planning to play Chaos Rising sometime) and I liked them, all of them.

Trying to bring something new to the table is a good thing (most of the time), and IMHO the more RPG-ish style of DOW 2 is a great change, not without it's flaws (and yes, there are flaws), you might call it evolution.

YES i have to agree i just BOUGHT DAWN OF WAR 2 and its such a WASTE of TIME and MONEY.........I LOVED the OLD DAWN OF WAR and DAWN OF WAR SOUL STORM........i still play them when i'm bored and it makes me happy.

As for STUPID FOCUS groups, well THQ & RELIC YOUR AS STUPID AS YOUR FOCUS GROUPS........how's your sales doing???

Another thing i hate is this thing called STREAM............i thought you just put the disc in and play, NO you had to set up an account and then it had to down load 4.7 GB of data for the game............WHY WOULD YOU TAKE A COOL GAME and RUIN IT...is beyond me??

STUPID STUPID STUPID people at THQ & Relic can only make such foolish decisions.

DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY ON DAWN OF WAR 2 any of it..........take my word you'll be banging your head!

What is the last RTS you played with a great story and campaign?

Halo Wars had a pretty good story and campaign. thumb.gif

I like Dawn of War 2. Last Stand is great fun! Don't play it as much as I should though. biggrin.gif
