Anyway, I'll be watching this for sure. I know it will be top notch.
I agree. No sense in reinventing the wheel. Experts have spent tens of thousands of dollars developing proper ergonomics, plush padding, might as well make use of it.

My desire is to make something I could actually market...and Automotive seats are way too expensive to ship (heavy) and it might be hard to get the same one twice. An option would be to use a molded fiberglas bucket seat...which are readily available and could be dropshipped from an online source.

I'll keep pecking away at it and see what I can develop.

You could market it without the actual seats, and use a universal type slider system (like the ones off ebay) that could mount near any auto seat you can find. And then the customer could use whatever seat they desired. Alot of driving enthusiasts probably have a preference anyway. I see what you mean though, if you are attempting to market this. There are quite a few on the market already, but most are either too expensive, or of "toy" quality. What is the projected price you would be marketing this at?

Pretty cool.
I have my doubts about attaching the chair frame to the desk though.

That's a good idea.

Well until I mock it up it'sgoing to be hard to tell if it works or makes getting in and out too hard. I think the desk by itself with a foot board would be pretty good to start.

CD, I'm liking a dual monitor set up with the wheel on one side, keyboard on the other. The chair could slide from side to side to provide full accessibility when necessary to either the keyboard or the wheel, and the keyboard will be within somewhat easy reach when driving.

My crappy desk that I use now has no space so I got used to putting the keyboard behind the wheel...but it does suck if you need to actually use your PC

I was thinking a rotating arm might be cool...put the keyboard right in your lap as needed and swing to side when not.

I really like this idea, as I hate having to reach at my keyboard. My gaming seating position is terribly awkward when trying to mouse and keyboard, and vice versa. Thank god for Xpadder and on screen keyboard.
