I'll be "joining the club" in about a week, however one thing worries me. EA recently announced that they are abandoning, COMPLETELY, stereoscopic 3D.

Upon further research, I found that Alienware are no longer offering any sort of "3D bundle" PCs -- which they've WERE offering for the past year or more.

Now...I couldn't care less about EA's position on things generally speaking. We all hate EA. Unfortunately love or hate them, they are **VERY** powerful in the gaming industry and their opinions carry a lot of weight.

It just seems to me like more and more companies are abandoning this technology completely. I hope this isn't the case and if anyone has further info it would be much appreciated.

EDIT: Here's a link to what EA has been spreading to other developers in regards to s3D.

It's all basically nonsense in my opinion. I have no doubt that if 3D TV's didn't cost 4x+ the amount of their 60hz equivalents (not including "extra glasses") that everyone would own one.
You are right. I love 3d vision and its too bad that EA is dropping 3d vision ready support from their games. It is a proprietary software. It only works on Nvidia cards, on certain displays.

I think that stereoscopic 3d is really going to take off but I doubt that it will be the Nvidia implementation that becomes the standard. For now it is by far the best way to go for 3d gaming on the pc.

That's dumb for EA for dropping 3D vision. I read an article in Maximum PC about the direction for 3D just this month.

The next step is to have 3D vision without glasses but they said it's sooooo expensive that it's not going to be anytime soon we're going to see that since the market is only just getting off the ground.

It's appealing mostly with males with extra money to burn atm. Said that it's safe to invest in today's current set up with emitter and glasses as we won't see glassless 3D for the next 7-10 years.

It's only going to grow instead of dying as technology improves upon it and hardware / software rendering gets even better.

EA hasn't made a lot of recent games with a high 3D rating anyways: MoH multiplayer only (Frostbite), BFBC2 (Frostbite) and Crysis 2 (after DX11 patches). I assume BF3 will have 3D Vision rating since it is just a newer version of the Frostbite engine. Well if it helps at all, Sony is on the band wagon for 3D as they are releasing a 24" 3D display with glasses by the end of the year for the playstation.

I hope 3D gaming doesn't die out, I think it is sooooo much better than movies for the immersion. 3D Vision rating has a large part in what games I buy nowadays.

Also I haven't seen an update, Kush I hope you were able to get your old alias back.

I don't know how many of you guys have seen this but someone has made a site dedicated to fixes for 3d vision. Its a really well done site. Its even got 3d video for just about every game mentioned. There is a decent list of fixes going too. I bookmarked this one.

The website is called Solution Gaming. Check it out.

I have been wondering but it looks like the Wii/Gamecube emulator Dolphin works with Nvidia 3d vision. I don't have a wiimote so I haven't really gotten the chance to play around with it too much but that could be a lot of fun.

I have also been playing the original Far Cry in 3d and it look very good and runs really well. There is a lot of high contrast areas so there is a little bit of crosstalk occasionally but not most of the time and nothing too distracting. I recommend giving this game a shot.

An interesting bit of news posted by official nvidia rep regarding upcoming Batman Arkham City:

Quote:
Hopefully you guys are seeing the press releases, new stories, and PC gamer articles.

If not, check this out http://www.ripten.co...ay-on-xbox-360/

We are going to be releasing some cool things with Batman soon on 3DVisionLive.com, so stay tuned.
http://forums.nvidia.com/index.php?showtopic=208033

If xbox 360 version is getting 3D support out of the box, can we say pc version will be 3D ready?
Batman: Arkham Asylum is a 3D Ready title (and was out of the box, if I recall), why would Arkham City be different?
