[Official] Nvidia 3d Vision + 3d Surround Club - Page 14

Just out of curiosity, how high do you guys set the depth for games? Is it different for each one? How do you decide which setting to use?

Also, 3D screenshots would be awesome. How do you take them? Like a normal one, then open the file in the Nvidia 3D Photo Viewer?

I got mine set to max in the NCP. If the game has issues I will mess with the convergence some then if it's still off I start dropping the depth till it looks right...

Trying to figure out the 3D screens still...The latest FRAPS has options for it but doesn't work for me so IDK...Check here for a guide on how to do it. My work blocks the address so I can't dig for it so it's up to you to find it, but it's there...Also a good place just to read on 3D in general. As good of a place as here but for 3D'ers

Edit: Just dug this up from here...

IN-GAME 3D SCREENSHOTS
1. When you are playing a game with NVIDIA 3D Vision, take an in-game screenshot in 3D by pressing "ALT-F1".

2. These 3D screenshots will be copied into the folder “C:\\Users\\[USERNAME]\\Documents\\NVStereoscopic3D.IMG†with the file extension "JPS".

3. A JPS file is a stereoscopic 3D JPEG file and can be viewer with the NVIDIA 3D Vision Photo Viewer.

I think I wasn't saving the files as a JPS which could be why it wasn't working...

Edit #2
Got the 3D pics from in-game to work, but I can't upload the files here or imageshack. Is there any place else where we can upload PNS files?

Cool, I was wondering if S3D screenshots were supported. Good to know.

The 3D vision video player needs some work on the codecs. For some reason, despite documentation to the contrary, MP4 doesn't work for me. The youtube downloaders I've found that can select the high-res versions of videos only output them in MP4. Seems stupid not to use the WMP codec API to have access to all of the codecs installed on the system.

The 24 Hours at the Nurburgring video on Nvidia's site is awesome.

Can you play MP4's outside of the NV 3D Movie Player? Can you play them in WMP? I have no issues downloading MP4's and playing them in 3D with NV3DVP. If you can't play them in WMP then you might need to check your codecs.

Question for all members. Where can I host a .PNS file? Imageshack won't host it and I can't get OCN to upload either, even tried to .rar the files and still failed on the upload to here. Not trying to sign up for this place and that place just to find out I can't upload the file...Thanks!

Yep, H.264 codec is installed, and the videos play fine in WMP. That is why I don't think 3DVVP is using the WM codec API. I've used other apps that hooked into the Windows codec stack and could use any codecs installed on the system, but 3DVVP isn't working with encodings for which I have a codec installed.

Try sendspace. It is covered with ads, but there are no restrictions on file types and files can be up to 300MB. When you post the download link URL, the user then has to scroll down to the bottom of the page to find the "Download" link.

Can you provide a link to the codec pack you downloaded? Trying to see if I can help you out some cause I have no issues with MP4's...
Not sure if this is needed but NV3DVP is just like Peter Wimmers Stereoscopic Player and I know with that program I had to select the codec from the file's option menu. I do not remember if I did the same thing with NV's player, worth a shot. Trying to remember....damn, try it out and see if there is an option in the NV3DVP, might be...

Thanks and +1 for your help!
The only question is will this site be able to read the file as is? Got to keep in mind the 3D driver is taking the pic and making one file out of two streams (so thats 2 1920X1080 pics side by side). I think this is why I was having issues uploading it here in a .rar, but still doesn't make that much sense as too why I couldn't, it's a .rar...

I've uploaded zip, gzip, and even an msi with sendspace. It doesn't attempt to interpret the file, it just treats it as a raw binary stream. I actually did a quick test and it accepted a .pns file no problem. A rar would work fine too.

FWIW the ".jps" files are really just JPEGs, and ".pns" are PNGs. Like you said, they have the left and right frames, but they're just put side-by-side in a single image. The viewer automatically puts the boundary at half of the image width. I've downloaded several standard stereo pairs in JPEG format, renamed them to "*.jps", and they opened and displayed fine in the viewer (though the geometry of the content out there varies a LOT). May have to swap left/right in the viewer for some of these stereo pairs, if the depth is way out of whack.
