What acer did you have???
Because, I have the GD245HQ and IMO it's sweet smile.gif
So it's my guess you had the 235 thinking.gif

I had the 235hz and from every account that I've heard the 245hq isn't any better in the areas that I had issues with.

According to the service menu they even use the same panel.

What about the LG model?
236w3d one...
IS it inferior to Asus and BenQ 3D monitors as well in terms of 3Dvision?

If anything its probably better with 3d vision than the Asus. That Asus is a great monitor but in the 3d vision department there are better performing displays. As a 120hz monitor it is one of the best.

The LG does very well with 3d. 3d vision blog seemed to really like this display in their review but I've heard complaints about image quality and I hear that it has a very aggressive anti-glare coating.

Sadly I haven't seen a review of the Benq from 3d vision blog. I have been hearing good things about the benq recently. One thing is for sure just make sure that the display has been manufactured this year.

Thank you so much for the inputs once more guys

I love this community...

I decided to ditch Acer GD235, and go with Acer Gn245

I checked out the 3dvision blog site and they were quite happy with it. The price is in the same range with BenQ but GN245 comes with built in emitter and glasses... Asus is still the most expensive and it seems like its not worth it...

In overall it seems like Acer GN245 will be my best option, Not GD245 by the way. I believe GN and GD series are different.

Right now I have a SYNCMASTER B2230 with VGA only input so no matter what i choose will be better in 2D especially with DVI and 120 hz... But in 3Dvision it seems GN245 is a good bet..

I cant wait for the 3Dvision 2 monitors by the way. I am sure they will come to >Turkey in 6 months and will be way overpriced.

I was mistaking your GD245HQ for a GN245hq, sorry about that. Its good to know that the GD245HQ is a good display.

I just ordered a 3d compatible monitor for my sig rig and am wondering if my GTX 460 1gb will perform decently with 3d vision (Benq XL2410T 120hz 2ms1920x1080). The GTX 460 is overclocked to 850/1700/2000. I'm not a stickler for stable vsync'd 120 framerates or anything like that but I would like to at least get 30fps bare minimum with 3dvision, even if it means running a lower resolution and quality than native and maxed settings. I mostly play NFS Shift 1&2, Dirt2&3, Metro 2033. Is this a realistic possibility? Should I put the money towards a better video card and buy the 3d kit later down the road?

Yeah, I'm not meaning to be a fan-boy, but yeah, my GD245HQ doesn't annoy me in any way!
Sure, at the top of the screen I do sometimes see ghosting! But nothing that makes me think it's a fail smile.gif
And 2D, compared to my old 1920x1080 is very crisp smile.gif

Hello mate smile.gif
In the UK, and because of the Hz the mains are at. We have to run 3D at 100Hz. If not we see the house lights flickering through the glasses!
But the strange thing is. 100Hz 3D gaming is easier to achieve than 100Hz/fps 2D!

So what I'm trying to say is. You'll probably be OK with the GTX460 for 3D cool.gif
I find that 3D gaming at 100Hz is about as hard on the GPU as 2D gaming at 70fps. But why IDK biggrin.gif

I'd get the 3D now! And later get a better GPU solution smile.gif
OK, in some games you'll have to drop some settings. But the awesomeness of 3D will more than make up for that, IMO thumb.gif

Sweet! I think I may have found a cheaper way into 3d vision. I have a pair of glasses for my laptop already so I just need to find a used IR transmitter. This may enable me to get a new PSU and a second GTX 460 smile.gif Thanks!

Definitaly get another card along the way as well. Especially for Metro 2033...

Ever considered getting a 570?

When 6xx cards come out you can SLI it too because they will be cheaper.
^ Yes I considered it but since a new 750w PSU plus 460 is about the same price as a single 570, and SLI 460 will keep up with if not slightly outperform a single GTX 580 at 1080 resolution, the performance/cost ratio really doesn't seem great enough to warrant the upgrade. I also like the fact that the handful of 460's I've played with overclock really well so I have a pretty good idea of what to expect. My current 460 will OC over 950/1900/2000 stable with 1.025v but I don't run that 24/7...I only push that high for Metro on my large TV so I can run vsync. Thanks for the suggestion though!

That is true

So in that case getting another 460 will make you set for at least 1 more year in 1080p... most probably even 2...

I wish 3Dvision,s technology was not so much demanding though frown.gif
