Congrats man! thumb.gif

I almost bought this one last Friday. The ones I found were not Nvidia 2 Vision ready with Light Boost. Which one did you get?

The updated version of the 27-inch Acer HN274H 3D monitor with the new 3D Vision 2 and support for 3D Lightboost technology is here as apparently Acer is already releasing the monitor on some markets and I just got a review sample. The new monitor looks exactly the same as the old version on the outside, even the model name on the front is printed as HN274H…

290

Looking at the back of the display reveals more interesting facts. Instead of Acer HN274HB the model name apparently remains HN274H, but with a slight difference in the version of the model only. So instead of HN274H bmiiid as the old model, the new model is labeled HN274H Bbmiiid with a part number ET.HH4HE.B04. The fact that the model number remains as HN274H and not HN274HB and the difference is in the version number only might be a bit confusing for a lot of people and it is not impossible that somebody can get the old model instead of the new one. So be careful when looking for the new version with 3D Vision 2 and 3D Lightboost support and wait for a review of the monitor very soon.

I did read it's a very good monitor from the reviews. Excellent quality.

In the end I went with an ASUS VG Series VG278H Black 27". Should be here by Thursday according to Newegg.

The Acer they had were not Nvidia 2 Vision.

I went with the older version without Lightboost, as I cannot find the newer one any where. The ASUS was out of stock when I placed my order, but it was the one I was wanting to get. After seeing all the issues it had with the backlight bleed, I decided to go ahead and get the old ACER. It is kind of dark, but I think I can deal with it.
From what I hear, if you have a backlight bleeding issue on the ASUS, wait it out, and it will even itself out after a week or two.

I can tell you did your homework too. I researched mine for the last two months. I was impressed with no ghosting on the ASUS from different reviews.

I even seriously looked into switch to AMD and looked into the best offering of HD3D with a Samsung SA950 and was not impressed one bit. I was optimistic yet let down.

http://www.hardwareheaven.com/reviews/1402/pg1/nvidia-3d-vision-2-featuring-the-asus-vg278h-screen-introduction.html

DDD Tri-Def third party software renders 3D poorly. Its not true 3D Vision but a gimmick. This is one area that AMD lacks severely on. Implemented poorly and lacks any support.

Members of this club who obviously know already can take comfort in you 3D choice with Nvidia. smile.gif

We need better drivers for SLI + 3D for BF3 for sure.

I thought that was pretty good for the 580, but I'd expect the 590 to flatline 60fps @ high. How does the 580 and 590 run 3D BF3 on Med? Are we getting 60fps?

...I'm wondering how my 560 Ti 448 (570 equivelent) would run 3D BF3 on medium...

I dont thinkg BF3 is optimized at all in 3Dvision

In High and in Low i get pretty much the same FPS

At high I average 40

at LOW i average 50

Something is up but I am not sure what it is.

Thats interesting, because BF3 is considered 3D Vision Ready!, Not good, not excellent, but top-tier! smile.gif Well, there is always 120FPS MP in 2D! smile.gif

If one was to place a consperisy theory....like me then I say its to make the new line of cards look to perform better by software crippling the older cards. The new 7970 gets 120+Fps with ultra having a 20% performance boost......***. 20% gives the 80fps increase using higher settings.

Well, other than being somewhat dark compared to regular viewing, the 3-d is great.. no picture distortion so far. being that it is also a 27 inch 120Hz monitor in 2d.. I am very pleased. I would have liked even a little bit of 'out' depth, and not all inwards, but still better than 2d by far.

I don't know how many of you guys have seen this but Helix on Nvidia forums has developed a dll to fix or disable problematic shaders in 3d. So far there are a few games that have been fixed like Dead Space, Assassins Creed Brotherhood, and Kingdoms of Amalur Reckoning. There are a few others with the problematic shaders removed. I've been keeping my eye on this thread since I'm sure that more fixes will pop up.

Well, to get that pop out you need to adjust convergence. There are only a handful of games where its locked. In the Nvidia control panel in the 3d vision pane look for "set keyboard shortcuts" then enable advanced in game settings. When in game you can use "F6" to bump up convergence. That'll give you more pop out. Try playing around with it.

One other tip for brightness is to bump up the digital viberance in the "adjust desktop color settings" in the Nvidia control panel. thumb.gif
