If I set the refresh rate of my XL2420TX monitor to 120Hz (without 3D) will my FPS in games be halved as compared to having it at 60Hz? How does 120Hz really smooth game graphics?

With 3D enabled at 120Hz, it does get halved.

Nope

When you set your monitor to 120hz ( you must ) it will be a much more smoother experience than gaming at 60hz. Very few people cant see the difference but for people like me the difference is noticable.

I mean it is like that in TVs as well. I mean when 200hz TVs were advertised few years back as a great experience to watch action movies or sports events, i was like " yeah right. 100 hz is more than enough and this is a gimmick " . However when i tested 200hz, honestly the whole TV watching experience got better. Now i can not watch action movies or football games without 200hz on.

Same with gaming too.You will see that 120hz is such a great experience over 60hz.

Many people out there whom bought these monitors for 3D, even prefers gaming 2d @ 120hz over 3D. It is that good.

Btw dont you always leave 120hz on?

Oh ok. I do turn it on, was just asking about it smile.gif

So practically I'm not doing anything with the FPS of the game when setting my monitor to a higher resolution (120Hz) than the standard 60Hz?

Well if your graphics card can handle a specific game at higher FPS youwill automatically enjoy higher FPS. If lets say you play Half Life 2 and get around 120 fps that is great as you will enjoy 120 fps gaming. But if the game plays in your rig at lets say 50 fps, than there is no point for 120 hz screen.

Thinking of adding a second 560 ti in your rig?

It's Urdaneta and yes that's one of the "high-end" villages around here, you must've been rich to stay there rolleyes.gif

@all

Do you think it's worth it to do 560 Ti SLI though?
