Because several months ago you seemed very adamant that Nvidia 3d vision was a bad investment I'd like to hear your opinion now since you seem to have switched over.
I can't really recomend per say but between the two solutions it all comes down to what you want out of your 3D setup. If I didn't buy a 3D ready HDTV in the begining of 2009 I most likely would of waited till the tech caught up a little bit or till things became cheaper. But as in life things don't always work the way you want them. TBH the ATI solution was alot cheaper by far but is lacking in the driver department. Because of this my BC2 and Metro 2033 would of just sat till the drivers caught up and still to this day the drivers from IZ3D are still a little quirky (thats beta drivers for you) And now since I have the Nvidia solution I can play every game in 3D including Metro and BC2 with all the eye candy in DX11...My only gripe with Nvidia's solution is with Dirt2. With 3D Vision Dirt2 is unplayable and has so many artifacts it is crazy. Dirt2 was not like that with ATI's solution but keep in mind I was playing in 3D with DX10 enabled, so I stepped up a notch being able to play in DX11 with 3D on but is seriously unplayable. Driver update maybe?

If someone asked me which 3D solution should they buy right now, I would ask;
1) Are you planning on 3D gaming?
2) Do you want 3D movies with 3D Blu-ray support?

If someone just wants a 3D setup for 3D Blu-ray then odviously you wouldn't need a computer but if you want to game in 3D also then we have some decisions.

If I had to do it all over again I would suck it up and buy from this page:http://www.compusa.com/sectors/campa...de/3d_hdtv.asp
If you buy any 3D TV, glasses, Blu-ray player you have to keep the future in mind. That Samsung's 3D HDTV bundle is where to go. Specially since Nvidia has this http://www.nvidia.com/object/3D_TV_play.html
This allows you to game on you PC in 3D with other types of glasses and HDTV's...

There are way to many factors in this damn 3D tech right now and evey manufacturer selling 3D glasses and TV's are making it harder for the consumer to make a purchase and prob making people re-think about it and actually slowing down the 3D revolution...

I am happy with my decision cause Mitsubishi is making a HDMI 1.3 to HDMI 1.4 converter, just in case I need that later down the road. I have no problem using my PC for my home theater when it comes to 3D Blu-ray, I allready own CyberLink PowerDVD 10 Ultra 3D which does 2D->3D DVD conversions, and will get an update for 3D Blu-ray in June (has a setting in the 3D menue for Nvidia 3D Vision)...

Like I said there are too many decisions to make about this crap and all these companies are making it harder with their non standard solutions and adding to the confusion...

Hope I covered it all...

The only thing I am waiting to pop up right now is a 3D HDTV tuner card. I want to be able to record my 3D DirecTV channels when they go live in June. Anyone know how to program a turner card with another codec? Could be a nice pattent on this topic if done properly...The codec need is the Multi View Codec...Thought?

I know Comcast is broadcasting some 3D channels also and did the Masters Golf Tourney, so might be a good thing to look into...

I did stream the masters in 3d, I must admit it was very interesting to watch live tv in 3d.

But when I asked about what solution you prefered I was refering to 3d gaming only. Becuase you don't need the active shutter glasses for movies really.

So on a complete gaming stance which would you prefer.

Based off of a gaming stand point I would say go with Nvidia cause it is never a good thing to have to deal with 3rd parties for drivers...They are always behind in the times...Might be more money but you can guaranty compatibility. And most of the time if the game is not working correctly a driver update will fix the issue with said game (most of the time)

@Kush
Do you watch 3D movies on your setup? Where do you get your movies if you do? You know about the yt3D=enabled tag for youtube.com? I am trying to find more content for my 3D'ing....

Was thinking also maybe adding links to the first page with sites that have 3D content either pics/vids, anything that has 3D content that we can use. 3D content is so little right now...I have been trying to convert anaglyph 3D movies to field sequential to use to get by...Let me know

iv been thinking of going 3d by scrapping half my system =the vid cards and lcd... but was wondering does n3d support resolutions such as 1920x1080? but im not sure if its even worth it..for the money i would have to spend

such as this lcd?

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...ica-_-24009222

ALSO is there any place i can go personally test nvidia 3d out? i would really like to see it first hand to justify a decision on this huge amount of money..all the videos on youtube show ppl playing in 3d with glasses but you cant see the 3d effects cause they dont put the camera through the glasses to show the viewers the 3d mode..

@ Seanicy
As far as I know the "red/blue glasses" type of 3d can't be seen with the shutter glasses. I've tried it to watch final destination 4? I think it was and the 3d glasses just don't turn on when trying to view it.

The only thing I've used my 3d glasses with is a plugin for firefox called Cooliris (to view photo galleries) and playing video games. Other then that I've watched the masters when they aired that as well. But I have yet to use it for movies because I don't know if there are any 3d movies that are compatible with nvidia 3d glasses as of yet.

As for the youtube content I was not aware of that and I'll have to check that out at another time.

@ d33r

Yes, 1920x1080 is supported. My friend actually just bought that monitor for his 3d setup (I'm jealous because I wish I had that resolution )

Also, you can't view the 3d effect threw a camera as a camera is only 1 "eye" per say and to get the 3d effect you have to view in stereo or it doesn't work. If someone were to put the glasses infront of the camera you would only see one image and it wouldn't create the depth effect.

I don't know anywhere that has one of these setups in a store but I can't remember the last time I went to a retail store.

But everyone that I've showed my 3d vision to and the other friend that I know that has it say they love it. And personally I'm glad I got mine when I did over a year ago, it really makes the gaming experience just that much better.

The only problem is it doesn't work on ALL games. So, I would check the Nvidia games list to see if you play the compatible games before you purchase it.

But I can't praise this product enough if you really want the ultimate gaming experience this is it by far. Well unless you get 3 of the 3d Monitors and play in surround 3d which would be the creme de la creme of gaming

$379.99 on a 24" screen, double that and you can get this http://www.amazon.com/Mitsubishi-WD-.../dp/B00166BNFS
60" and on Nvidia's support list and a wonderfull screen picture wise. I own one I should know...You can check out CompUSA and see if they have a display setup for you to try it out, they also had the new Samsung display setup at the store by me...Check on it and let us know...

@Kush
I was talking about converting a anaglyph DVD into a movie we can use on our 3D Vision glasses...Like this http://www.underground3dmovies.com/ there is a tutorial on the link. I haven't messed with it to much but everything is there and the programs are free to do it, just takes time to put the files back together...Looks like we got some things to learn LOL...

The youtube videos is easy and is good for some extra content...
#1 go here http://downloadyoutubevideos.com/ and download the plug-in
#2 then go here http://www.youtube.com/results?searc...1080+yt3d&aq=f
#3 find a 3D video you want to see and then add the url to the downloader from step #1
#4 save the file
#5 Right click file open with stereoscopic player
#6 make sure you select the proper format ie: over/under, field sequential
#7 put on glasses and enjoy the 3D

I hope you can understand my instructions, it's good for extra 3D content...Let me know if you need any more help with this...

Dude you are missing out big time! Not to be rude but 3D is for eveything. I will set you right...Any movie or video file that is in a 3D format can be played on the 3D vision glasses. All formats are excepted ie: over/under, side by side, field sequential is also ok...

check out this site http://www.mtbs3d.com this site has everything you need to know about 3D and is a good base point for learning.

I'm not home now but I will make up a little picture guide for you if you need help and also might get other members into it also...
