[Official] Nvidia 3d Vision + 3d Surround Club - Page 100

I'm currently building a rig with Sli GTX 580's and I've wanted to try 3D gaming for awhile now. I've dreamed of a 3 monitor surround setup with 3D capabilities for awhile now. Recently i've gone over to the nvidia boards and discovered over the last three weeks a lot of angry customers with that setup and most of the time it crashes or too many artifacts appear.

If that is the case, should I just grab the Dell u2711 and the Asus 120hz monitor as my 2nd monitor. And not worry about the surround and just went i want to 3D game, just use the single monitor? Are single monitor 3D games still performing well?

I only have one 23" Alienware OptX 120hz monitor and at 1920x1080p and my GTX 580 I'm doing great thus far. No crashes or artifacting. If you look on the main page of this club you'll see that some members are actually sporting less of a card to do their 3D vision gaming/blu ray movie watching.

I've owned mine briefly for two weeks thus far. Crysis 2 plays well and I've got that maxed with AA as well. Metro 2033 is tougher but if I turn down some settings it's playable. I'm in anticipation for Battlefield 3 in 3D this fall.

I did a quick 3D bench of Heaven 2.5 Direct 3D 11, AA off, Shaders: High, Anisotropy 4X and was getting 23.7 FPS avg 31.4 maxed.

I played Crysis 2 and was getting 55-60 FPS Avg, without I get 100-120 FPS in 2D.

I haven't had time to play any 3D movies yet. One thing I was bummed to learn is Avatar is not out in 3D for the general public. Movies made for 3D are the best to watch rather than filmed for flat screens then converted to 3D from what I've been told. Guess you got to buy a 3D big screen TV to obtain a copy.

I'm sure others from this club will chime in response to your question as well.

Surround vs a U2711 and 120Hz is a personal decision. Perhaps Luke997 will chime in with his SLI 580's and triple AW2310 experience.

I went the U2711 and AW2310 route and I love it The higher rez of the U2711 makes work and browsing a dream. The AW2310 gets the good 3D games(L4D2!) and 120fps games(Blops), while the U2711 gets everything else(COH). My favorite game right now is BC2 and I can enjoy it in any of the three formats, but 3D is the best!

Nice. So you did the same route I'm thinking. I see awesome screenshots of surround. Then I hear horror stories. Anyway thanks for the responses guys!

Guys a little question, i have these glasses when i watched THOR in 3d.
the glasses are given to us, dunno if they are anaglyph or somthing. They are both dark lenses. Do you know what they are? Also since am geting the 3d vision kit, can i use this glasses for a second viewer? Or they wont see nothing?

Won't work. You'll need to use NVIDIA glasses because its the only one that's syncs with the NVIDIA 3D IR emitter.

3D Surround is fantastic and that's pretty much it.

Not all games work (for example NFS 2) but a lot does. It's still fairly new technology so don't expect every new game to work perfect straight after release. It's case by case basis, some are fine, some require 3d nvidia profile/ driver update, some developers patch.
If you accept this, and have reasonable expectations you'll be happy with it.

There are few users on the nvidia forums who will only shout and complain about every single thing - yet I've had tons of fun in many games in 3d surroud with 3 GTX 480s, now 2 GTX 580s with various drivers so it can't be that bad, can it

Just Cause 2, Mafia II, NFS, F1 2010 are all fantastic in 3DVS and to be honest if these were the only games available for it I would still get it

Note one - I'm X58 user so if you plan SB system you should double check with its users.

Note two - As always people with problems will post more often trying to resolve it, those who are happy are usually most bothered using it rather than posting on forums "yeah I'm happy"
