Thanks to BANDIT_COROLLA for letting me know about this thread.
Except for an optical drive, I recently bought a completely new system and just finished putting everything together as of 3 days ago.
I've had an Antec case for over a decade and the only thing that is wrong with it, is that it's ugly due to all that it's been through. I decided to look at what Antec had to offer these days. I first noticed a P180 and loved how it looked (brushed aliminum I think) and really liked the fact that the "P" series was known for being quiet as well as the obvious major factor of keeping things cool. My old Antec case is a tank but it certainly would not be described as "quiet". I wanted to bring my new case upstairs out of the dungeon where laptops were the only thing my wife could stomach until now (in terms of both aesthetics and noise).
I then saw that they're no longer making the P180 and that there have been a few models since then in the same series.
I've not done any gaming for over 5 years now...the last game I was into was Quake3...but I'm ready to explore a couple again now that good money is coming in, job is good, and life is fairly stable (I quit gaming when I was laid off-figured I'd better focus on other things for a while).
I completely appreciate the cases with the windows and the lights etc...I love to look at them. It's just not my kind of thing to buy personally - I like a high quality/highly functional...and when I have the luxury of bringing aesthetics into the equation, I like a stylish but understated look. The P183 was the best case I could find for what I was looking for...I looked at other brands as well, but Antec still had what I was looking for.
I decided to get the Antec CP-850 PS too since it's specifically designed for the P183 and a couple other cases in this series. I LOVE the PS being on the bottom for one thing.
I'll post a few pictures within a week. Looking at some of the impressive pictures in this thread, I see that I have things to learn about cable management. One thing I like about this case though is that a novice at cable management like me can still end up with the most uncluttered system within at least a 10 mile radius.
Again, great pictures and great systems guys....impressive. I think these Antec "P" cases are a wise choice..they're a longer term forward thinking investment. Such good decision making is additional evidence of us having more activity going on in the frontal cortex than the average bloke on the street.
