*OFFICIAL* Borderlands Discussion Thread - Page 18

Hmmm after looking into this game more and seeing the new gameplay video I'm starting to have some doubts about it. This game might be the next Hellgate London, meaning that it might be popular for the first month or so but than it will probably die down after that. All of the same hype surrounded Hellgate London before its release and that game died fast and both games follow the same gameplay concepts.

I actually liked the way that Hellgate London looked vs this game as it had more character customization and from what I've seen from this game so far there is no character customization. You get to choose out of 4 characters and you cant customize them by making them look different, changing sex, race or getting new armor pieces. Also, DLC announced already? What ever happened to expansion packs and paying $30 or less for practically an entire game's worth of new content instead of $10 for just a new level.

I think you're under the impression that this is an MMO? It isn't.

And the DLC was just announced. It won't be out for quite some time, unlike the Dragon Age: Origins DLC being released on day one.

From the screen shots of the game in this thread I am constantly reminded of Fallout. Still looks like the game will be worth checking out.

No, I'm not under the impression that it's an MMO. Hellgate London wasn't a MMO and neither is Diablo 2 which are two games that Borderlands is trying to follow gameplay wise.

Watch the co-op gameplay vid again, the guy talks about how you can customize your character's abilities and shows it.

The DRM has been detailed:

The Steam version will only use Steam as DRM.

Retail will use disc based SecuROM. NO ACTIVATION LIMITS. For copies printed before the release date, you will need to activate it online once. For copies printed after the release date, you will not need to activate it online.

Thats some really great news , I think the redundancy of having steam's DRM and then Securom's on top of it is just insulting (ie crysis games on steam). Wish I was refunded the money I was going to use to buy this already :/.

Has there been any mention on mod support? I know theres DLC but I love me my mods.

They've said that an SDK may come at a later date, but it isn't promised. On the bright side, at least it isn't ruled out. But even if there isn't an SDK, it is a UE3 game, so I think mods would still be possible.
