I am new to overclocking and i was wandering if someone could help me overclock my i7 920 step by step to 3.6ghz.

Putting everything to auto will make the voltages needlessly higher than they need to be.

Set it at stock Voltage.

Also download any stress test software, prime95, Intel burn test etc... to see if your clock is stable.

CPU-Z is great to tell what clock you achieved.

The i7's achieve 4ghz without sweating, so it should be an easy overclock for you.


However I have only OC'ed AMD computers so I know nothing really about Intel overclock's (better learn though, just built my first Intel computer)

Ya i have all the stress test software and i ran prime for about 45mins and all my temps were really good. Im just confused about if i have to disable anything because when i try to keep everything at stock and boot at 3.2 its jus locks up and dont boot. So i know im missing something here. all i did was change the qpi and muti. like it said still nothing.

Make sure you up your volts enough to deal w/ the increase in clock.
