The i7 upgrade! (3.8 stable first attemp)

Thread Starter
So after a few week for waiting for a decent deal, I finally put together a pretty cheap little upgrade.

So I got me an OB Biostar TpowerX58
I missed the OB P6T deal, and the P6T deluxe was $40 more. $170 for a pretty good mobo designed for OCing!

The Core i7 920 itself.

OCZ XMP Ready 3 x 2GB
I know there are better alternatives out there, but $61 AR and another $10 off for the memory+CPU combo is just one hell of a deal.

Total cost of the whole thing, $590 shipped and $550 after the rebate. Another $80 for a TRUE 1366 rt, the whole thing comes out to $630 when all said and done. I'll start posting pics when it starts to arrive.
If the GTX260 prices drop anymore, I might get another for SLI =D.

Goal: 4GHz stable on air (Praying for a D0)

I'll enjoy it now . I plan to upgrade to Gulftown and upgrade my graphics card too if there's anything good next year, unless of course I get another GTX260 =P.

Looks good, but I am not so sure about the mobo. I would of spent $250 and got a P6T Deluxe but hey that is me.

Also, yea upgrade to a GTX 275 or 285 and sell me that GTX 260 for cheap seriously!

They actually have an OB P6T Deluxe on newegg for around $205. I've always wanted to use an Asus board, but I keep missing out on deals. I've been on XS and people were getting some pretty good overclocks with the Biostar. I'm still a little skeptical about Biostar but I'll give it a try. Cooling is suppose to be pretty good on the board.

Well, I just got my TRUE today and it's my second TRUE I've used...gotta say this one's base is really flat. I mean it's flat there's maybe a enough space to slide a strand of hair through the base and razor and that might take some effort lol.

3.8ghz stable on my first run =) Prime running for the last 3 hours. A bit on the hot side, but I still have to lap the TRUE, pressure mod it, and get another S-Flex for push/pull. Might have to re-position it too, didn't do a very good job of it. =P
