Right now I just took out the 3rd stick, and am running 2 sticks since that gives me just enough clearance to install my S-FLEX fan on the Megahalem.

I just wish I could get a build right and have everything work right, I have spent a good deal of money on this rig and it's disheartening to not be able to figure out the issue. On your EVGA X58 board, is it having issues with the Ram as well?
First, have you tried one stick in slot one and tested each stick? If that is good, then try reseating each stick. Also, try a stick that you know is good and put it in each slot to determine which slot is bad. Lastly, make sure your uncore voltage is around the same as your vcore, i.e. if vcore is 1.36v then uncore should be there too.

Norris, I'll try that tomorrow and let you know the results. Right now, unfortunately, this is the least stable board I have ever owned. No matter what I do I can't get it to stay high at even semi-decent clocks, if I go in, and set everything, when I exit bios the whole pc shuts down, restarts, then one of two things happens, either it shuts down again, starts up and says overclock failed starting in safe mode, or it starts up and still changes some of the settings, mainly the memory. It seems like it is always trying to overclock the RAM, if in the BIOS before I exit where it shuts down the first time, I set Ram to 1.65V, 8-8-8-24 Timings, and x8 Memory Multiplier for say 1400Mhz, when I restart I'm at 6-6-6-19 (It switches from manual to SPD it seems) and then the Mhz is up around 1800.

I'm hoping it's something I'm doing wrong, because right now I am very tempted to try and RMA this board too (If Newegg will even take another RMA from me, so far it's been one Motherboard and a GPU on this build, they probaly will start to hate me) sell my I7 and Ram, and just do a AMD or C2D Socket 775 build. Which I really don't want to do, I will likely change my mind on that just really frusterated.

And on the occassion where I can get into windows with things working, it seems like when I get into a game I go to BSOD fairly quickly (Everquest 2). Maybe it is a issue with the RAM, or one of the DIMMS is bad, I'll try to isolate it tomorrow. Just right now feeling like I'll never get this working/right. I'll try following your values of the bios again tomorrow Norris, with maybe a little boost in vcore just to try and get it stable, and maybe a slightly lower overclock and try to work my way up.

Definitely set you ram with my settings since we both have the same ram. Follow them exactly and see if that works. The other thing to try to see if it is a ram issue or board is to run it with one stick and see if you have the same issue. Unfortunetely when you run into an issue like this you have to troble shoot and eliminate things which is frustrating and time consuming, but you have no other choice. If it is the ram and you RMA the board then you are stuck in the same situation, same is true if you RMA the ram and it's the board.

Keep us posted on the situation.

Thanks Norris, gonna give it a go right now. One thing that may be part of the problem is I just checked the Foxconn Update thing, and according to that my BIOS is now P03 again, but I know for a fact I had updated, I'm not sure when I picked "Force Reset" if it went back to P03 or what happened. It also seems when I go to update my BIOS it only allows you to update the backup bios, so I'm assuming once I get P06 downloaded I have to select it as the main, maybe that's part of the problem with the memory issues.

I'll remove the fan on the Megahalen and try Booting all 3 sticks in DIMM A1 one at a time and see what happens, if that works I'll try booting with A1 and B1 installed, if that works I'll try A1 and C1 (if I can do that.) and if that works, then there shouldn't be an issue with any of the DIMM's or RAM.

Is it possible that there is a Bios reporting error where when all 3 sticks are in the BIOS only picks up 4GB, even though the Vista Welcome screen displays 6GB? I'll also write down your settings and give these a shot, I'll let you know soon here.

*Sigh*

Well it seems I figured out what the problem is, I tested all three modules of RAM, and with them the PC would boot just fine if they were in the slot furthest from the processor, ditto with the middle slot, if I combined two of them in those two slots the computer would show 4096MB of Ram in the BIOS, so all was good there. However, the slot closest to the processor, when filled by itself, wouldn't post with any of the 3 sticks that I have of Dominator RAM.

So... it appears that this motherboard has one dead DIMM slot, the odd part is, when I filled all 3, Windows DOES read it as 6GB, however BIOS shows 4GB, and when I run say Prime95, it will show the system is using 63-65% of the total ram with only 2.51GB, which, you guess it, means it's only using 4GB.

Are DIMM slot issues with motherboards semi-common? I'm kind of worried Newegg is going to give me crap being this will be the 2nd motherboard I am having to return to them, and I also had to send back a GTX 260 as UPS crushed the package, and the fan was DOA on me. The biggest negative to all this is that I don't have the funds to order a new motherboard now until I return this, I was able to swing the cash for the Mobo/Ram/2nd 260 on Friday.

I don't think I can justify keeping a mobo that has a dead DIMM slot though - would you guys return it? Or just deal with only having 4GB?

First, not a common issue. Second, yes return it!!!! Simple as that. Talk to Newegg and they should pay for shipping both ways. At most you will be down a week, maybe 7 days.
