Foxconn Bloodrage Overclocking/Help Thread - Page 18

Well I got my DO earlier today (ordered on Saturday Pao_Revolt) and was able to play with it for about an hour.

http://valid.canardpc.com/show_oc.php?id=555012

Still working on stability, but considering I just dropped the number in there with my current settings, not bad. When I get off work late tonight I will probably play with it.

On a side note, my GTX280 is showing only running at x8 even though it is in the first red slot. Now I only noticed this because I was testing a REII and saw it. So my question is this, is there a setting in windows or the Nvidia drivers that could be limiting the x16 to x8? Or, do think my GTX280 could be bad?

Thanks.

gpu-z reported one of my gtx 260s running at 1x and I had to RMA it. Problem was fixed with a new card.

Yeah, I am thinking it is the card. I have a 8800GTS that I will be using to test tonight to see if that is the issue. If it is broken it will be a good reason for me to jump on a new card. Maybe a GTX295 or HD4870x2.

yeah plug and play. Should be a check box somewhere in the software (catalyst?) for crossfire.

Yeah, install it with the CF bridge and then go into Catalyst, last option under advanced I believe, but it should be checked already. Windows will probably load drivers when you first boot up, just as an FYI.

Not touching SSD until at least I am running Windows 7. The Vertex are probably the best bang for the buck performance wise, but you still have to do all these "Tweaks" that you do not have to do with regular HD's. Of course, even my 4 Velociraptors in RAID 0 won't touch a couple of Vertex SSD's in RAID 0, but I doubt i would see the difference anyway. Plus, by this summer there will be more SSD's using the same controller as the Vertex or an even better one. I just think it is still too early to jump in.

Im still on the fence on buying them after reading the OCZ forum on aligning them before installing the OS. Even updating the firmware seems like a hassle. But when i see a good price il will probably jump the fence. Just read a section on deals that the 80 gig intel x-25 dropped in price which sounds tempting.

Well, you could have snagged the OCZ Solid series 60Gb models for $99 from Newegg. Once I find a SSD that I like and acts like a normal HD and is at that price for a 60Gb, I will hop off the fence.
