Lol, figured you did. That's why it was the "info" I was waiting for.

Maybe they'll fix the wall with a BIOS update, but I figure that they already would have if they could. Seems a shame with the voltage engineering that went into the board.

yeah oh well... the i7 965 still does well on it lol. I'll use that for a lot of my i7 runs b/c I have yet to get the bloodrage to cold boot/bug. The evga x58 sli cold boots/bugs all to haties, and I'm hoping the classified doesn't!

What vcore are you guys having to use to get 220 stable. I am already at 1.46v and it still isn't stable, that's on my DO. Temps are not an issue since I have a chiller and can do sub ambient. Once I get my board insulated I will do sub zero, but that won't matter if 220 is the best I can hope for on this board. I guess I could always go to the dark side with the Classified.

I wouldn't say I get 220 stable. Just boot to web surf, SuperPi 1 mil and wPrime 32. Anything more than that and it blue screens. 1.45v gets it to that point. 1.55v doesn't get it any more stable (that's as high as I've tried).

In order to do SuperPi and wPrime at that level it helps to put my IOH at 1.36-1.4 and upping SB voltages up a bit (especially trying any graphics stuff).
Keep in mind that those voltages are a fair amount past recommended specs. I use the NB waterblock and the connected short heat pipe keeps the SB nice and cool.

Edit: as an aside. Any chance one of you guys could PM a mod over at Xtreme and let them know that nobody can register over there since their site was down? The image verification server won't let anyone register or even email.

There's definitely a 220bclk wall here with the i7's. I don't think it's a problem with the chip since we all have the same wall. I would say it's the boards wall.

I just tried again with a super low multi, super low ram divider, and uncore divider. Still crashes after 220 bclk. Classified here I come for benching! I Love you still BR you will be my everyday love muffin' on the i7 965!

you know its not alwasy about voltage, spec, teach these guys about the mutli's and which ones you specifically need to have double what the other ones are. i hit 205x21 ht and turbo always on easily with 1.375vcore when you have the uncore and qpi link correct.

Well, I have no issue hitting 200x19, with turbo on thats the same as 20 since it puts me at 4200 just like 20x200 would with turbo on. I do that 1.26v vcore and 1.26c uncore. What gets my goat is that to hit 4600 and be somewhat stable (I say somewhat since I have not primed it) I have to go all the way up to 1.47v vcore, 1.45v uncore and push my PLL up to 1.89v. All that for 400Mhz. I do not mind pushing the voltage, but since I hit a wall at 220 I am wondering if the extra voltage is worth the 400Mhz. I may end up with the Classified since that is the only board I know of that can do above 220BCLK. Yes I have seen the DFI do it, but it's a friggin ugly arse board in my book and there is no guarantee I would be able to go above what I have now. Anyway, I was more disappointed in the fact they are not releasing the OC panel VFD for the boards than I am that I cannot go above 220BCLK.

P.S. I will send a PM to one of the mods on xtreme about registration.

well yeah, there's several factors. Sometimes it's as small as selecting the right dividers to make it work. Also, your uncore divider should always be a minimum of 2x your ram divider. But yeah I've tried everything from voltage, dividers, ht enable/disable, ppm enable/disable, dinner, a movie, and a night out on the town w/o any love back. Like I said, there's too many people having the same bclk block to blame it on the cpu.

i really dont see why anyone for any reason besides benching would need a higher bclck than 220 i mean you can easily hit 4ghz and beyond with ht on with that kind of bclck, why would they need more in this day and age? software needs like 3 years just to catch up to hardware and thats if they stopped making hardware right now..

Can one of you guys post your BIOS settings? I want to compare a few things, last night when I got home I was messing around and while I could get it to boot and stable @ 3.8 - getting to 4.0 was a no go, everytime I would try the computer just would reset twice and then re-load the defaults. I had QPI/Uncore both set to 18x I think, with Memory just at 6x, and I was pumping in plenty of VCore (Tried between +80 and +130), Uncore I was only giving a +100 boost though, so not sure if it needed more there, or on the NB/SB or what...

Just want to get 4.0 stable (With or Without HT, Don't care about that.) - I really wish this 3rd DIMM on the board worked because I'm starting to "figure it out" so to speak with this board as far as how it functions and I do like it, I just wish I didn't have to RMA it
