Foxconn Bloodrage Overclocking/Help Thread - Page 24

I will have to give that a try, turning off the fast link. It may be well possible that a *divider* is activated *after* the multi, still causing an extremely high interconnected clock signal (220 x 18 / slow-mo). With such a low QPI there should be no need to have Vtt and IOH voltages so high. If anything at all, only the Vtt should be higher as the L3 cache is fed by that and depending on the Uncore multi it needs to be upped.

First thing I'm going to do today is to rip out the board and put my lapped TRUE on with a push/pull fan because I can't run 4GHz with Prime95 load for any extended time, temps sitting in the very high 80s ugh.

BTW, that NB temp I posted was on a chilly night. My comp's next to a back door. I open it and use the curtain as a "shroud" to funnel outside air to the rig. Water temps in the reservoir (just after my NB and before the main rad in the the loop) were 18.1 C at the time.

I don't often look (because I don't have Everest up very much and the Aegis Panel temps are garbage), but I don't think I've ever seen the NB up to 40 C.

Will be very interested to see your Classified results with the same chips, but I don't think I'll be purchasing a new mobo in the immediate future.

Gonna keep the bloodrage rig intact and pull the trigger on a completely new open bench setup when the hardware releases are aligned right. Maybe within a month or two the SLC SSD prices will have dropped, the 4890X2's will be out, and DFI or Foxconn will have released an answer to the Classified.

Edit: I also tried disabling QPI link last night to no avail.

Hey any one that was waiting for these in 16X9. Well they are: Intel i7 Bios Boot Screen. They work and look great on the Foxconn Bloodrage, using FOX LOGO.

Mixed Sample:

Update in ongoing attempt to shatter wall.

1) Started using SetFSB instead of Aegis Panel for OS overclocking. It's more solid than the foxconn Aegis Panel.
2) I can now consistently boot straight into Windows with 220X21. (By "consistent" I mean 50% of the time on a cold night).
3) Even booting into Windows at 220X21 and clocking with SetFSB from there I can't get past 221.5 bclock.

Pic of "boot into Windows" clock. Please don't try these voltages at home, boys and girls.

Attachment 107468

Here's typical Maximum clock. This is consistent. 90% of the time that I boot in at 220 I can bump it up to 221.5 in SetFSB.

Attachment 107469
http://valid.canardpc.com/show_oc.php?id=558926

One time at 222 bclock it didn't immediately freeze, but I could only get 1/2 way through the validation process. So it may as well have.

I'm really thinking our issues are board related. I highly doubt this many people have a cpu that gives out @ 220bclk. =o)

G22 bios, dated 4/20/09 =o)~, seemed to allow me to be more stable in higher bclks, and I hit 222bclk with it. Seems, as I thought, the 220 is probably a bios optimization issue with the d0's. I got my classified in today and I will give it a run after work today.

Hello.
At the moment I got a Gigabyte GA-EX58 EXTREME, but I'm struggling with overclocks, it seems it's only stabile at overvoltage. So today I ordered Bloodrage, so I'm hoping this card will be alot better than the Gigabyte GA-EX58 EXTREME( the northbridge waterblock was pretty much a joke too, since you need hell of a small tubing and it's of aliminum)

I'd like to hear some good and bad things about the Foxconn Bloodrage..things you guys are happy with and not satisfied with.

Hmm..I thought G22 was older than that. While better than P07 by far, I didn't get any extra oomph when I tried G22. On the other hand, I was using girlie man voltages by this week's standards.

Might give G22 another try. I really need to find a quieter mobo speaker. I can feel my wife cringe with every beep! I wonder if they sell replacement Force Reset buttons........

It just really seems that a few BIOS updates might open this board up to fly - allowing PCIE frequency adjustments, more liberal QPI multi parameters, etc...

I'm looking forward to hearing how your chips compare between mobos.

Well I am still stuck at 200MHz and I would love to know all your secrets LOL. On the other had I am 4GHz stable, and I wish the 20x multi didn't cause issues at 200MHz Bclck. I am very happy with this MB none the less.
