Seemed to have fixed it by turning off overclock recovery in the bios option. Have it running it stock volts at 3.6ghz. Anything higher seems to result in a BSOD in windows 7. Probably have to tweak it some more to get it higher, but at least its working now.

Yeah, stay away from the beta bios guys unless you have a backup on your second bios chip. If you do need to flash the first bios with the second chip, there is an option in the bios under OC Gear that allows you to do this. Personally, for my 24/7 bios I use P06, seems to be rock stable. For benching, P09 seems to allow me some flexibility, but it does have some quirkiness to it.

Most of the problems I have seen and experienced have been boot up issues. If this happens, try removing power completely and walking away for an hour. This will give you and the Blood Rage time to think about what you two did wrong. After the hour is over, go apologize and try powering it up again and see if that works. Seriously, Saaya over on Xtremesystems told me that sometimes the ram timings get messed up and unless you remove power for a bit to drain it it will cause wierd like issues. I had this happen the other day and I just unplugged it and came back like three hours later, booted like a champ, before that I couldn't overclock or anything.

Hey all ..

Can definitly use some help here !!

Finally put together the rig in my sig, and after getting it up and running, Im now ready to overclock. I have never worked with an i7 before nor a Bloodrage, so Im a complete beginner.

When I try some settings from people who posted here, I get a "Overclock Detected, Entering Safe Mode (or something similar) long before even getting to the desktop. So, basically I cant try anything.

I also noticed in CPU-ID my speed is all over the place. 1 minute its 1.7ghz, the next its 2.5ghz. Also, Im pretty sure my ram settings are not optimal. Im seeing 6-6-6-16 instead of 9-9-9-24 and the fsb:dram ratio is 2:8 ...

If anyone out there would be kind enough to msg me some exact step-by-step plans in detail (like what menu in bios, what setting, etc .. exactly) .. that would be awesome. Id probably need a full setup including my ram settings.

Im running P09 Bios if that makes a difference. And everything is at stock so far (except my 5870 which I bumped to 900/1300 in CCC)

Hope to hear from someone !!! Id be happy with 3.7ghz or higher

Alright let's start.
In bios you pretty much only need Quantum Bios section.

In CPU Features disable CxE, Visualization and Hyper Treading (you can enable it later) enable PPM, EIST and Execute Disable Bit.

Go back and Enable System turbo and CPU Turbo Always On.

All Voltages:
CPU +100mV (you can set it lower later)
VTT +80mV (you can set it lower later)
RAM 1.65V

Now set following numbers:
Bclock 191
CPU multu 20
QPI multi 18
Uncore multi 16
RAM multi 8

In Memory Settings: set whatever your timings are.

This suppose to give you 4ghz overclock

Hes got it covered, give that a try and report back. Sometimes you don't need +100Mv on Vcore, leave it stock at first and see if it will run 4.0Ghz on stock voltage, many chips are able to do this.
