cancer i know a guy who got cancer when he was 12 and he missed out on 4 years of school because of it the reason i think cancer research or something like that is because they need a cure that takes a shorter time to get rid of cancer cells and wouldnt make people miss out on so much school (if they get cancer as a child)

This is a local one that I chose for myself: http://www.seeingeye.org/

It doesn't hurt that I work nearby their offices, and get to see them training dogs almost daily.

There is this one organization that my friend in Nashville Tn operates. They run a homeless feeding program under the bridge where many homeless people are living and around Nashville itself. Most of the time they get help from Trader Joe's for food. But when Winter comes around that is when they get hit the hardest because they also need items like coats, clothes, and especially sleeping bags. They do this every week and can feed about 100-200 homeless people a day. a $100.00 dollars can go a long way for this group as they have different places that heavily discounts items they buy. For example they can get sleeping bags 3-5 dollars a pop! Winter is coming around the corner. I have donated several times in the past. Maybe helping a smaller group who could really use the donations rather than giving it to the bigger charities that already get a lot of support? Thank you for your time. Here is the link to the website http://thebridgebunch.com/ There is a link for an email if you have any questions.

The Sunshine Kids is a non-profit charity helping kids with leukemia and their parents. They helped my brother out when he was 6 with Leukemia. They've helped my family, and you should help them, too.

you should choose research charities which are not going to keep the discoveries they find patented for proprietary profit purposes.

i wouldnt want to serve anyone's private profit mandate so that they would control the accessibility of the discovery they made through my efforts for their own profit.
