BIOS update: USB flash drive or CD?

Thread Starter
My new Foxconn A7DA-S is arriving today and I'll be updating BIOS right away. So I'm wondering what is the safest way to do it: USB flash drive or CD?

really it is up to you, but IMO a CD would most likely be best, in a IDE disc drive

Either one is fine. I like to use USB flash drive personally.

Personally I'd use USB just because it'd be quicker and I'd save a CD.

I like USB too but I've heard that Foxconn has some issues with USB+BIOS update. Maybe I'm just exadurating

Ive always used USB drive. It just seems like a waste to burn to a disk such a very small amount of info. Flash works just as good.

Ive never had a foxconn board so i cannot answer that one but all my Asus boards worked great with a USB drive. With every board you have to make sure that you are not overclocked when doing the update. That is what causes problems.

I'm gonna use my "BIOS update kit" - good ol' Athlon 3800+ and 1 stick of crappy Kingston value RAM

I borked my A79A-S using a USB. The weird thing is, I did everything right, it said it completed, but it never posted again after that no matter what I tried.

Maybe just be safe and use a cd or something.

Exactly what I'm talking about. I'd rather waist 1 CD than 1 MB

Format the usb drive as fat32, btw, and it's a good idea to remove all but 1 stick of memory (one less thing to go wrong). I wouldn't waste a cd on this.
