[Cables] VGA vs DVI vs HDMI... Which one? - Page 2

DVI & HDMI are electrically the exact same video signal so one is no better than the other, the only difference/advantages in going with HDMI is 1.) audio on same cable and 2.) occasionally better HDCP support.

Actually my screen does have speakers but there not nearly as good as my Logitech Z-5550 so HDMI would not be for me and I should go DVI?

Go with whichever you already have cables for, or whichever is cheapest.

I used HDMI for awhile, with an adapter on my panel, and one on my computer, just so I could use my PS3 with ease. DVI and HDMI will look the same pick what is cheapest/fits your needs.

Ok so I decided that I will go with DVI but one problem. Which kind of DVI?

There's like: DVI-I, DVI-A, DVI-D and many more...

What is the best DVI cable?

DVI-D = Digital only

DVI-I = Digital and analog

DVI-A = Analog only (pointless, as it's not DVI anymore, but AVI lol)

Either a DVI-I or DVI-D cable is fine. You won't be able to use any VGA to DVI adapters with a DVI-D cable though.

Hey,
I was just wondering if I plugged a dvi into my graphics card and then plugged my headset (usb and standard audio jack) into the front of my pc without a soundcard would that work? (to chat and get game audio). It works on notebook.
Here is the pc I'm getting (don't need opinions it)

THERMALTAKE V4 BLACK CASE - 500W PSU
INTEL CORE i3 2130 3.4GHz 3MB RETAIL BOX
XFX HD6790 840M/1050M PCIe/1GB/D-DVI/HDMI/DP
WD CAVIAR BLUE 3.5" 500GB 7200/16MB/SATA3
GEIL 8GB KIT DDR3 ENHANCE CORSA C9 1600/1700MHz
ASUS P8Z68-V LX DESKTOP MOTHERBOARD
LITE-ON REV.B 24x SATA DVD-R/RW/DL BLACK
