Damn, you own a Core i7 965, and Quad GTX 295's and managed to pay for them yourself or maybe not? Yet, still can't spell correctly? Or use proper grammar? Looks like I'm not the one who needs to go back to school.

I'm just pointing out the obvious in hopes someone else as uneducated as yourself doesn't actually try to apply 995 core clock, and 1990 shader and royally screw up there card in reference to your post.

hey guys, im running two 295's in quad sli..@ stock speeds...i just i did a minor cpu overclock now and now was thinking of moving to the graphics cards. I have two 120mm fans on the side of my case that are about 2 inches from the video cards, but they suck, i can't even feel them blowing any air out , so i ordered two 120mm 110cfm fans..which hopefully don't blow the video cards out of their sockets..lol...once they come, should be tomorow, im thinking of messing with some overclocking..

two questions..what are the average gpu temps i should expect idle and under load ..i think idle right now they are around 51C ? does that sound right? can you give me your temps with your overclock, also what is the top temps under load i should want my card running at? i just got a hold on my cpu temps, so im learning my GPU's . Look forward to your help on overclocking..thanks guys.

With my 675/1500/1210 OC, on 60% fan speed, I see a 48c and 46c idle, with a Antec Spot Cool fan blowing on the back. Load, during 3Dmarkvantage, I never go above 80c.

These cards do get hot! A normal GFX card max temp is 100c, but I would never let me 295 hit that hot, I would say, stay below 90c during load.

ok, ill try and stay under 90C. thanks..Also which setting do you want to gain the highest settings? gpu? shader or memory? which is going to give the best performance..

Nothing raises the temps of *both* gpu's like crysis or warhead benchmarks on 'very high' or enthusiast, so those are great to use to find your load temps.

Right now I'm sitting at 51/53 at idle, but I have my auto speed dropped from 40 to 36. I can hit up to about 90/92 running crysis for awhile (again, my fan speeds are slightly lowered from the stock 'auto' settings, so this is on the high side). I don't start to freak unless I hit 100C, which never happens.

AFA your other ? goes, they all make a difference, all the clocks. It depends somewhat on the specific game/bench and the settings you're running it at as to which one gives the most 'benefit', however, the clock that's most 'universal' in terms of raising performance is most definitely the one on the core.

Don't believe it if someone tries to say 'teh shaderz FTW!!!' (as I'm almost certain someone will do), cause shaders simply do *not* affect performance *across the board* the way that raising the core does. It's only on certain tests that the shaders and/or mem speeds come heavily into play is the reality of the situation.

But the core ALWAYS makes a difference, that's why I say it's the most important. And the clocks all work together, such that OC'ing each one gives you a little bit more of a bump.

In any case, enjoy. These cards are a blast. My max stable overclock using (slightly under) the stock fan speeds can be found in my sig below

Furmark gets the GPUs much hotter than Crysis, just an FYI.

I've found that to be much more effective at finding out what my stable clocks are.
