I consider the 295 to be the perfect card for 1920x1080 or 1200.

Any less than that, it's overkill (for everything except perhaps crysis, clear sky, or FO3L, parts of which are brutal).

It's still a great card at 30" res as well, but I think a pair of 280/285's is more optimal for that resolution, myself.

Has anyone experienced microstuttering? I know this has been discussed before but I want to here real world answers from actual owners. The only thing keeping me from trying this thing out is MS. My past 9800Gx2 pretty much scared me away from dual-gpu cards.

i think this card si crap for 30" monitor ahh sad to be true low vRam /cry
well for most games is great 2560@1600 with maximum AA great, but games above as u said well crap, crysis is hardly playable with 0x AA 20-30fps
or for example mirror's edge same i think more than 8x or 16x AA cant remember, game crashes after some time, far cry 2 i think over 60fps with 2x AA 4 or 8 AA cant remember exactly 1fps?;p
is very sad have such beast and cant use it true power because ua re running out of vRam
damn and have 2nd one on the way, rather prefer 3sli 285, but got mine cards 200euro each

i don't thing so is possible
i passed vantage with 802/1728/1242x2 but still only close to 25k points same as with 720 core, most stable i think it is at 702
for me i think maximum was around 24,5k points no matter what,. Possibility is also low bandwich with my pci-e x16 1.0 not 2.0
not talking about stress test,it died very fast at that clock, red light pop up dont know how it can be out of power with 30A rails on PSU or driver error at best

Al:

If the card had microstuttering, I wouldn't have sold my first one and bought a Co-Op with that money, I'd have bought something else

So ... the answer would be No, I've not experienced it. Games are smooth as silk on both of the 295's I've owned.

Good point kind sir. Do you think cpu speed has anything to do with it?

Cause I got to thinking and having one 295 would save me from upgrades for at least another year(or until the DX11 cards drop in price). Then adding a water loop to the cpu + gpu would complete my rig for a while.

If CPU speed had something to do with creating or alleviating perceived 'microstutter', then by definition the problem wouldn't really be 'microstutter'. At least, not in the sense that the term is generally used... IOW, the card being a dual-gpu would not be the 'cause' of the problem, so it wouldn't really be 'microstutter', it'd be a type of CPU bottlenecking

I'm just trying to figure out why the Gx2 suffered from it while the 295 doesn't. 512mb frame buffer perhaps?
