I don't think its gonna be a low end card, in the world of computers its all about whos the best, theres no point in releasing a slower card to sell for cheaper, if i wanted a cheap card i woulda gotten maybe a 6600 or 6800, but no i wanted someothing that would be top of the line for a while, and then still be able to play new games coming out in the future. Thres no way they would make a slower card then their best out now, thats not gonna put them at any advantage over ATI, people are tech freaks and will buy up new cards when they come out, and of course the nVidia fan boys arent gonna be buying the x1800s they are gonna want a card better to prove nVidia still has it. Im sure nVidia doesnt want to have the slower of the top of the line cards out, even if it is for a short time they will release there better cards in response you will see....

Well, they do make money off the low-end, mid-range market also. I just think they should lower the price of old tech to cover those ranges.

And I thought I've heard some rumors about NV releasing their G72 before the year was over to combat the x1800xt, but most sites say early '06.

I think the G72 will be the 7800 Ultra, since it is the same architecture, except on a 90nm process. And if ATI is smart, they will play nVidia's game and release the R580 as soon as the G72 is released. However, I somehow doubt ATIs management is that smart, and theyll wait 3 months after the G72 and then will have to combat the G80.

Well the thing is, if ATI released the R580, then Nvidia will put the G80 out to combat that, but it may hurt the G72 sales because of how pricings will be effected, the G72 would have been expected to be the best card on the market, then Nvidia had to pull out the G80 so it would push the G72 prices down, then that would affect pricings on the G70's though.. So it kinda all balances out.

Well, the r580 is supposedly ready to be released according to that one slide. So they could be ready with it.

But if ATI plays its cards right (pun intended), they will force nVidia to release two cards in rapid sucession, so not only will the G72 have to compete with the X1800, itll have to compete with the R580 and then the G80. In that case, nVidia would not make as much money off the G72.

Thats what I was saying, it would push prices down which may help Nvidia if the 7800 GT and 7800 GTX are pushed down lke $50, thats a big difference. But how its going the 7800GT doesnt seem to have a counter planned by ATI.. Or is that the X1600s?

Yeah, the X1800XL is meant to counter the 7800GT.
