I don't know what to tell you. You might want to post in the CM Storm Scout thread here at OCN to see of any of those guys have run into it. There are several of them that know them inside and out.

You might want to make audio recording of the sound to post as that help diagnosing the problem.

And I want to clarify my comment that it isn't the fans themselves. It is possible that the fans are at fault, but only if they are defective.

Just posting this becuz its a YL club, Sparkles gold class psu,s all have YL fans in them and are some of the coolest running psu,s on the market, idle or under load, even the 1250 beat out the corsair ax1200 on the reveiw by jonny guru, but there also realy great psu,s for the money too. Even matched corsairs in manny tests. Beat corsair ax1200 in the ripple test. and fell behind just a pinch in a couple other tests.

I wouldn't classify the Hi Speeds as "Super Loud", but they are noticeably louder than a lot of people would prefer to have. As case fans the difference in temps between the 88cfm and the 70cfm Medium Speed would be non-existent, but the 7db lower sound level would be. Personally, I wish I had gotten more of the Mediums and fewer of the Highs. If I can ever get the money together I'll be ordering 3 of the Medium 120's. On a heatsink or rad the Hi's do tend to work better though. It all depends on what one us using them for as to which would be better.

As cheap as they are you still can. I have the HS's and I use them on my side panel @ 50% speed and they are very silent. As Papasmurf and others hve told me... learn how to oil them properly and I believe you will have a fan that will last way longer than advertised.

Bought and installed a pair of Yate Loons (D12SH-12) (blue LED version) for my Scythe Mugen 2 (pictured here) for a push/pull config about 9 months ago, but didn't actually place em in the machine until 4 months ago.

After a couple of months, a small clicking noise started. Now the small clicking noise is a loud incessant clicking noise. It is very irritating. It can only be described as a tiny bead being shaken vigorously inside a small plastic can.

From what I have searched in forums and threads (such as this one), people have suggested it could be because the fans are running under 12V (I'm not sure if it is? I've got both fans 3 pins connected directly into the motherboard) (this is actually wrong, they are connected directly to the power supply), horizontal placement (I have it placed vertically), fan are slowly failing, or just plain faulty fans. Some people have commented that all fans have this clicking noise, just that most are inaudible. These are peoples suggestions and the ones who have the problem have not reported back whether they have found a solution.

These fans are pretty cheap (~$6) so it's no big deal to cough up for another pair, but I would prefer for a solution rather than having to go through order and installation again.

Someone mentioned dust as a factor. I dedusted the case yesterday, but I didn't get into the fans. Could that be it?

Edit: It's from jab-tech if that's any help.

Tator Tot would say that he has had many YL's, and that unless they are from Petra's Tech Shop, they don't last. I would add that you need to lubricate them before you put them into action, and keep them lubricated. See item 3 in my sig.

Sidewinders, Petra's Tech Shop, & Danger Den are the three guys I'd buy from.

As Ehume said though, keep your fans lubed up and they should last longer.

Thanks for the info guys, next time I'll buy from those stores rather than from JT and I'll look into lubricating the fans. The clicking is like a tiny bead gone mad in my computer biggrin.gif
