Don't forget the heatshrink. You can get bits of that at Radio Shack. Sure makes the joins clean up nicely at the end.

I was looking at this document: http://db.sanyodenki.co.jp/pdf/DC2012_numbering_system_E.pdf

In the DC Fan number one would be able to get 109P1212M4D01 for a 120x25 ribbed frame with a lock sensor. Yeah, the 6 instead of the 1 is not covered. Maybe some sort of revision or lock sensor spec.

There are options available to explain it:

1. Sanyo Denki have created universe-interactive hyperspace fan units with the ability to alter their label to increment lock count biggrin.gif
2. The missing listed option: "D06: with setting to confuse ehume on OCN" wink.gif

I was looking for that document and couldn't find it. +rep

Could you link to the Sanyo Denki page that gives a link to the pdf?

You found the D0x. Thank you.

If you note various fans from these guys, -01 means 3-wire, 02 means 2-wire, 03 means PWM and IIRC 04 means PWM. Why two PWM's? Dunno. Nidec also has 2 PWM specifiers for it's GT's.

-05 and up are custom numbers.

I used to do mine with needle nosers followed by a deluxe (but still under $10) crimp tool for normal crimp terminals. The special crimptool is muuuuuch better.

As for wire stripping, using side cutters is not reliable with my manual dexterity. So I use a grip-and-strip tool, like this:

grip-and-strip

You can also get this:

automatic wire stripper

You can search for automatic wire stripper, but Harbor Freight calls them self-adjusting wire strippers:

self-adjusting wire stripper

At $8.99, they're the cheapest I've found.

I found that document on the online catalogue:

http://db.sanyodenki.co.jp/product_db_e/coolingfan/

I have a RACO grip-and-strip tool. One of the best things I ever bought. smile.gif I was using the side-cutters to do some of the crimping. Lucky for me they're fairly blunt.

Time to do another search here for a decent crimping tool that can do the fan connector pins and Molex mini-fit jr pins. Every time I hit the electronics stores they're charging some small fortune for even the badly manufactured chinese stuff. I was good manufactured chinese stuff! smile.gif

Thanks for that link!

For crimping our fan stuff, the best price I've found is here. Lever action with ratchet. Might work for Molex pins too. If you write Nathan at Koolertek (user ff02 for PM's) he'll tell you. I have so much Molex stuff around here I've never needed to crimp any.

Thanks for that tip. I'll get hold of Nathan if I can't find anything decent at the local shops when they open again on Tuesday.

I can get by with the current method, but I want to do some cable cleanup soon and it'll be a mission using small pliers to do it all.

On another note, seems that warbling noise on the H50 wasn't the 2 SanAces acting up. Must be the dodgey mounting I have in place while messing with setups. And both fans produce the same whacky rpm reading, so it's definitely the hold motherboard or something.

People what you think about this two models San Ace 9S1212H4011 - 9G1212H4011???
I need for Corsair H70. Other option is Gentle Typhoon Black AP-29 3000RPM.
What is your recommendation Sanyo Denki or Scythe, if San Ace which model 9S or 9G.(I don;t know difference).
I think to use controler.
I see this video and this is good fan for me.

The most notable difference between the S-type and G type is the static pressure. the 9G1212H4011 has a much higher static pressure, weighs more, and consumes slightly more power.

I think you are confusing two types of fans. The 9S1212H4011 is identical to the 9G1212H4011 except for something that drops the sound pressure level 4 dB. Hence the 'S' in the name. Their rpm's and blade shapes are absolutely identical. What you're thinking bout is the 9G1212H1011. The number following the speed designation is Sanyo's code for the frame thickness: 4 for 25mm, 1 for 38mm. The 9G1212H1011 indeed has a significantly higher static pressure.

You can see the 9G1212H101 and the 9S1212H401 in items 1 and 4 of my sig, especially chapter 6 of item 4.

I would recommend the 3000 rpm AP-29 instead. You can do a PWM mod on that and get a PWM Gentle Typhoon that revs to 3000 rpm. Nothing better than that. In general I have found that GT's and 9S's are comparable, so go with the PWM. My next fan purchase will be an AP-29.
