I read the LCD panel manufacturers are going to push the 1920x1080 aspect ratio because of their production costs. They can make more panels with less waste in 16:9 aspect as opposed to less panels with more waste on 16x10.

This, which kind of also covers games. You lose such a small amount of your field of vision. You won't even notice. Heck, you might not even lose any.

Now I need to go watch the Big Lebowski.

Slightly on topic, I hate that 24" inch monitors are now primarily 1920x1080, instead of 1920x1200. I bought an Acer 24" that I've been using for about 5 years, and all there was at the time was 1920x1200. Now they're hard to find for a reasonable price.
