AMD 940 Quad core Gigabyte UD4H combo $293
OCZ Reaper 2x2gb 1066mhz $61 - $25rebate
Xigmatek Dark Knight $40
Corsair 650w $100 - $20 rebate
XFX 4890 $250 - $20 rebate

$686 after rebate. You would have a nice Quad Core, a 4890, room for CF and it would be a lot faster than your previous build.

AMD 940 Quad core Gigabyte UD4H combo $293
OCZ Reaper 2x2gb 1066mhz $61 - $25rebate
Xigmatek Dark Knight $40
Corsair 650w $100 - $20 rebate
Asus 4870 $165 - $30 rebate

If you can't fit the 4890 in your budget, the 4870 will do just fine.
$591 after rebate.

920 Phenom II + Gigabyte UD4P motherboard $260
OCZ Reaper 2x2gb 1066mhz $61 - $25rebate
Xigmatek Dark Knight $40
Corsair 650w $100 - $20 rebate
XFX 4890 $250 - $20 rebate

$646 after rebate

920 Phenom II + Gigabyte UD4P motherboard $260
OCZ Reaper 2x2gb 1066mhz $61 - $25rebate
Xigmatek Dark Knight $40
Corsair 650w $100 - $20 rebate
Asus 4870 $165 - $30 rebate

$551 after rebate
Here you have the 4870, room to CF, still with a quad core

These builds are a little bit more, but there so much faster with that quad in there.
I'm liking the last build for you the most. More in line with your budget.

Man that took me like 20min

I would love to put a quad in there right now but 620 before rebate is my max budget. Heres what ive got in my cart right now.

CORSAIR CMPSU-750TX 750W
XIGMATEK HDT-S1283 120mm Rifle CPU Cooler
XIGMATEK ACK-I7751 Retention Bracket
OCZ Reaper HPC 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500)
Intel Pentium E5300 2.6GHz
GIGABYTE GV-R487D5-1GD Radeon HD 4870 1GB
GIGABYTE GA-EP45-UD3P

So thats 612.42 shipped - $95 MIR = 517.42 after rebate.

My plan is to upgrade to a q9550, a second 4870 and a 22" LCD down the line. Sneaking 100 bucks here and a 150 bucks there past the wife is wayyyy easier then 600

You can easily make that $620 with a minor change in any of those. Then you won't have to upgrade to a quad later, still have that 4870 with a possibility of another 4870 in the future.

Excellent choices, I only wish I had done as much research as you apparently had when I did my first build. The only thing, go with the GA-P45-UD3P, and go with the 750W PSU, and you'll be good to go!

EDIT: I see you went with them, nice choices!
