Decided to void the warranty on my RAM (56K Warning)

So I got bored last night and decided to remove the heatspreaders on my Team Xtreem 2GB memory kit. I knew these were double-sided Micron D9GMH's but I wanted to get a close look at them for myself. I also wanted to use my other aftermarket heatspreaders because I was never fond of the stock ones.

The removing process was quite easy, thanks to the thermal pad that was used on my RAM kit. The thermal pad was really easy to cut through. All I had to do was use a mail opener and cut through the pad, then gently pull off the heatspreader.

This is what the chips looked like underneath the heatspreaders

You guys are probably thinking, 'Oh noes, you wasted perfectly good RAM!' Well even I did void the warranty on this kit, I only spent $40 for this back when DDR2 prices are what DDR3 is today. Also now that DDR3 is out I might as well invest in a triple channel kit for my next build.

Oops, sorry I forgot to add pix of the memory kit with the new heatsinks. I bought these from Newegg thinking I was going to need them for my Team Xtreem's.

Just so everyone knows....667 DDR2 3-3-3-8 (especially Team Extreme with silver spreaders) is D9 GMH.
Next time you're bored, ask.

P.S. No great loss. It takes forever to RMA Taiwan!!!

I read somewhere online that RMA's were handled in San Jose, CA?

How long did it take for you to receive your replacements?
