Idea: Ghetto Watercooling

I just got what i think is a really good idea while I was in my backyard today. We had this Fountain in my backyard thats pretty big, its about 5 feet tall and the water comes out of the top. The pump seems pretty strong too. Over the winter the Fountain broke because we forgot to take it into the garage. Anyways, while I was in my backyard i saw the pump and got an idea . I just bought an E7200 off of Synth (at HWC), and hes kindly giving me an Apogee GTX along with it for free . So now that I have a cpu block, couldnt i use the fountain pump, the Apogee GTX, and get a nice big car radiator???

Just an idea, Lmk what you guys think and if its doable.

Sounds plausible, but if the pump is AC, then you would have to power it separately?

As long as the pump isn't too powerful, I'd feel safe doing it. A lot of people use industrial pumps and heatercores.

wow, reallly ghetto cooling, but it should work as long as you get hoses that will fit the block and the pump and the rad, im sure you will need some types of conversions.

PERHAPS use a garden hose and get conversions for that, it would fit the whole use what you got type cooling system.

i would think maybe a bike rad or a scooter rad, a car rad would be huge, it should work very well aslong as there isnt to much pressure, u may want a voltage controller on it, im thinking of soing this myself

I would build a evaporative cooler if I was you...also known as a bong cooler. Nub and I run them here and they work great! I get about 16c idle and 32c load or less. all you need is some 4" PVC pipe and a 5 gallon bucket or a rubbermade tote box with a lid.

Here is a link to the Bong lovers club thread....maybe you can get some ideas... http://www.overclock.net/water-cooli...-56k-fail.html

Yep, thats what i thought. Im thinking if i do this, that the pump will be outside of the case. Ill get some pics/specs on the pump soon

It doesnt connect to a hose, the tubing actually looks like its 1/2" ill make sure of that later, Does anyone know how they measure diameter of WC tubes? Is it inside or outside diameter?

I meant heatercore . My bad. Is it possible to control the voltage on an AC cord?

there is a 2nd way to make a bong cooler where you don't need the tower part...you will have to PM Nub about it though. Its more like a swamp cooler...
