Hi guys
Just bought a P6T with an i7930 and corsair XMS 1600mhz - tried to set the ai tweaker to XMP to get the ram to run at 1600mhz but got blue screen errors.
I have set the DDR ram frequency to 1600mhz and left everything else - does that mean my ram is running at 1600mhz?
If not can anyone help by telling me how to do this - have a corsair H50 cooler so can OC the board.
I have tried to find out how but to no avail, any help greatly appreciated

I'm kinda a noob with OC'ing so all I wont say much but I don't think you should be using XMP. I have my 1600mhz ram running at 1523mhz with my BCLK frequency at 190 on my P6T
You will need to play with (bump) your QPI/DRAM voltage to run your ram at 1600mhz.
Also I think it's a better trend to OC your CPU first and then the ram.
Correct me if I'm wrong anybody.

Hi everyone! I built a my new system a couple of weeks ago. Im a complete newb at OC-ing even though i've built many computers in the past. I looked it up different guides on different forums and finally did mine up! lol the P6T is a breeze to OC, effortless. I think I will start OC-ing future computers!

Could you possibly help me out or point me to a guide or give me some very basic advice on how to do it - specifically for an Asus P6T board

One other question - I have run cpuz and it is reporting that my cpu core speed is 1603.6, multiplier x12, bus speed 133.6MHz, qpi link 3207.2MHz
I cant see how that means it is running at 2.8GHz ?

Thanks very much rogueblade, will use this for reference.

the figures I quoted from the cpuz control panel :
cpu core speed is 1603.6MHz,
multiplier x12,
bus speed 133.6MHz,
qpi link 3207.2MHz,
memory :
DRAM frequency 801.8MHz
FSB : DRAM 2:12

change when I run programs like a game it changes to:
cpu core speed 2939MHz
multiplier x22
bus speed 133.6MHz
qpi link 3207.2MHz
memory :
DRAM frequency 801.8MHz
FSB : DRAM 2:12

Does this mean the cpu is running lower frequency when not under load and could someone tell me if this means that by simply changing the dram frequency in the bios to 1600MHz, I am now running my cpu at approx 2.9GHz (under load) and my ram at 1600MHz ?
If so, I am quite happy with this at the moment, I dont want to do any serious overclocking until I understand more, I just want to get the ram running at 1600MHz - having my cpu going to 2.9GHz and ram at 1600 would be fine for now.
The temp is 29C with my H50 cooler, seems to run stable - no problems at all

The latency values are a bit higher than my ram spec, they are at 9-9-9-24 in the cpuz control panel but my ram is rated at 8-8-7-20, can I just manually change these settings?
Any help appreciated

Yes, the cpu will run slower than what you have it OC'd to when idle.
You need to tell us what sort of ram you have so those numbers have some sort of relevance. Notice most users have their specs in the sig, go to your profile page and fill out your pc's specs.

Regarding getting your ram to its rated timings and speed follow from here: http://www.overclock.net/intel-gener...-oc-p6t-9.html
Note my RAM is likely not the same as yours but it is 1600Mhz DDR3 ram rated at 9-9-9-24.

Thinking about getting this board but I'm wondering if it can fit 2 5870's? Or should I look elsewhere?
