It's your case that's more of a concern.

I have manually set the memory timings to 8-8-7-20
Manually set the memory frequency to 1600MHz
Everything else on Auto - seems to be running at : 2.93GHz cpu and 1600MHz ram - so a slight overclock in the cpu from stock 2.8GHz and seems stable so far running Bad Company 2 for 6 hours

Thanks for the link rogueblade - much appreciated

Mikami - the board will do x-fire - what case do you have?

Buddy don't waste the money you spent on that H50, overclock your i7!!!!
Hell since you have the same board as many you can probably just copy my settings out of that link and give it a test. Not sure how the 930 differs from the 920, havn't been reading up on stats much lately

I wont
I just dont understand enough to confidently change the settings that much just now.
I was really just trying to get running as standard but had to oc my memory to 1600MHz which seems to have also meant I have overclocked the cpu.
However, this was rather clumsy, as I said, I simply overclocked the memory in the bios and left everything on auto.
I will overclock it though, as soon as I understand what exactly I am doing.

Sorry to keep posting here but I dont understand this:
As I have said previously, I have only set my DDR3 frequency to 1600MHz - everything else on Auto.
CPUZ reprts ram at 801MHZ with 2x multiplier so seems ok, bios post says 1600MHz, 6135MB.
Windows experience test confirms 6GB
Multiple reboots - this stays same.
However, every day when I first boot up, windows experience test says 4GB ram, I seem to be losing 2GB.
I reset the bios to default, reboot and this sometimes cures it, back to 6GB.
Also, sometimes system restore fixes it.
After I get the 6GB back, I do multiple reboots, it stays at 6GB - then go to bed, get up next day, invariably back to 4GB.
All other programs report 6GB
Any clue as to what is happening ?

I'm looking into one of these versions to build a new tower. Rob, did the NB get very hot?

Also a side note, I've heard the ATi 5 series cards aren't optimized for the i7s. Are these just rumors or the new Firmi cards a better match with the i7s?

The Northbridge was fine. As long as there is decent airflow in your case.

That is a rumor (and not one I've actually heard).

ATI cards work just fine with X58 motherboards (as do nvidia based cards).

hey Robilar! i saw that you posted that it is actually possible to crossflash P6TD Dlx to bios 0006.. did you really try it? was about to anyway, but just to make my mind stop nagging me about it lol... also, does it really stop the throttling when passing cpu TDP/TDC limits?

Sorry for not asking via PM, forum regulations, and I am actually pretty desperate here...

Many thanks in advance

Thread Starter
I did try it although not with the P6TD, I tested it with both the P6T and the P6T Deluxe V2 and it worked fine. The only issue was some bios inconsistencies but otherwise it did resolve the throttling issue.

I would suggest you check out the dedicated thread on the XS forums for the Asus P6T boards. There are numerous users there who have also done this (including the person that got Asus to develop the special bios).
