Its a HOT chip. I run about 74c after about 10 minutes of Linx. Prime 95 runs about 68-70c at its hottest. That is with my CPU clocked to 3.8ghz. Cannot remember what 4ghz gave me.

Thread Starter
I've been playing around with the 21x multiplier (as opposed to 20x). I'll post back some results.

What seems to be the case is 21x191 BLCK seems to run a bit cooler than 20x200 although I am uncertain as to why.

I'm going to prime both ways again and compare the results.

This is a great thread. Thanks for putting this together Robilar. I just put my system together i7 920 with P6t (plain) + CM V8 cooler and it is running fine. I am new to OC, but wanted to try. I have a couple questions:

1) I see that there is a P6T Deluxe V2 mainly advertise for OC. But I also saw you guys having great results with the P6T (plain). I wonder what are the reasons to go with P6T Deluxe V2 vs the plain version? I don't fancy the rest of the features like dual nic etc ...

2) can you guys help me by telling me what I should change in my bios settings (also which version) to to get to a 3.8 OC please? I have read many threads and people have different ways to achieve that. I don't really understand the concepts and am not sure what is the safest way. I am hoping to get some help from you guys. I have 1600 RAM.

Thanks

Anyone else having trouble getting 5.1 audio? I'm running an optical cable to my receiver (it's compatible) and 5.1 audio only comes out when I click to test the different encoded formats.

I tried updating the drivers but it appears I already have the latest version.

UGH! This is annoying. I just want 5.1 in Crysis and in my movies!

what program are you using to play your movies? you have to set it to use spdif in a setting somewhere. you wont be able to get your games in surround sound unless your sound card supports dolby digital live encoding.

I'm using VLC.

I'm just using the onboard sound on the P6T right now. I didn't think I'd need to buy a separate audio card to get 5.1 in my games. Was I mistaken?

in vlc you need to right click on the video and somewhere in there there is an option to "use SPDIF" that should make your movies 5.1.

as for the games, yeah you will need an aftermarket sound card that supports dolby digital live encoding to get 5.1 in games over SPDIF or Optical.

I wanted to use my 1600 Corsair memory ... I tried the following settings, but it did not work:

Set to XMP
Change DRAM voltage to 1.64 instead of 1.66

Restart, go to windows and then BSOD. Do I need to make other changes?

Any suggestion? Obviously, I am a complete noob.
