Does folding use much internet?

Well, I'm starting to fold. I was just wondering how much bandwidth folding uses.

I'm on a 8GB a month cap is all. Stupid aussie interwebz.

8gb a month THATS INSANE! I just downloaded at least 160gb last week. I don't think you have to worry unless you are already downloading allot and coming close to your limit. Try out some network traffic monitoring programs like tomato firmware i think monitors bandwidth(Unfortunately you will have to download these to try them Yikes!)

I would recommend using addblock plus on Firefox to stop downloading adds on websites to save a little bandwidth as well as it all adds up.

To answer your question: No. Folding uses a very small amount of bandwidth. If you run out of internet it's definitely not going to be from Folding.

Welll.... That's 5MB upload per WU.... plus say 1MB download... and that's maybe 8 WU a day....

That's close to 1.5GB a month assuming he's Folding non-stop.

man get optus fusion 20gb its $100 au and has home phone with it and i think they got unlimited for $130 au

Lucky you, I'm on 12gb and I am paying AU$100, it is a complete ripoff but can't be bothered to change to another ISP

Stick to GPU folding Campo if you have Limited quota.

SMP folding wu's have insane uploads upto 24mb and even 48mb. Even uni client wu's can be a few mb. But gpu units are <200k download and upload.

1 quad core alone running the smp client can use 50-100mb a day.

I manage to get out 50k ppd using gpu's over a 5gig virgin 3G wireless connection. But can't afford to run smp at all.
