One more redesign. I did this for a couple reasons:
First, I decided to make the switch to metal for the legs, for multiple reasons. I'm not comfortable with the 4x4s. As the title says, I'm building this desk to be portable. That means I want it to be easy to take with me whenever and wherever I move. 30" 4x4s don't lend themselves well to that end.
What I've decided to go with is inspired by the monitor mount linked earlier in the thread(
here). The legs will screw in and out so that the desk itself is only a piece of wood with various metal pieces on the bottom.
Also, because having a 'back' to the desk would make it unwieldy, I'm going to use the equal-sized pieces to overlay the construction bits so that I don't have screws and such on the top of the desk. I don't know if I explained that part well...but you'll see what I mean when I'm done with this.
