Build for a friend, thoughts?

Here are the requirements: Canada only, CDN currency used. He wants to get a computer for WoW/browsing mostly, for about 500$ CDN, without screen or peripherals.

The problem I find is, I can't seem to convince myself to buy low-end things... And mess up with his ability to upgrade later.

I was thinking something along the lines of:

Dual core AMD CPU
Gigabyte 790 MB for the upgradable CPU path to Phenom II if he ever wants it.
500GB HD
NVIDIA(Sorry, I can't be bothered to buy him an ATI) 9800ish to GTS 250
2 GBish RAM
500ish W PSU?

He already has a retail OS(32 bits XP).

I don't have the exact pieces, but the best warranty possible seems nice, as I don't want him whining that I built him something bad. I have some ideas, but unfortunately they are at home, I'm posting from work.

Let's see what you guys could do. He'd be gaming most likely on 1600x1050 widescreen.

PSU is soso but should be ok, you can drop the price by not going with the GTS 250 and/or dropping 2GB RAM.

edit: saw he had a 32bit os. can drop 2gb then or get the Win 7 beta.

Thanks for your input! I selected these(or equivalents with this week's specials)

Any thoughts?

ASUS M2N68-AM SE2 motherboard
AMD Athlon X2 7750 Black Edition 2.7ghz
Corsair XMS2 DDR2-800 2x1GB (32 bit OS anyway)
Hitachi 500GB HD
EVGA Geforce 9800 GT SC
Some random DVD writer.

Please note I talked to him and asked him if he didn't want to dish out, say, 60 more bucks to get a futureproof mobo, and he said he'd much rather just buy a whole new PC in 2-3 years if he has to. So... I guess I picked that one. I just hate picking non-futureproof things. It feels wrong. T_T

Unless price is about the same, just get the 9800GT stock one and use tools such as Rivatuner to oc it.

Question:
How did you find a GeForce GTS 250 512MB for under $100?
I bought my 9800GTX+ 512mb only a couple months ago for $110, and that was a deal!

It was on sale for a little over the 100$ edge I think. And, yeah, I'd overclock it myself, but the SC is on sales, and not the regular one. That's why.

The ASUS M2N68-AM SE2 is not a bad mobo but i would tell your friend that he might want to spend about $20 fo a good mobo because you mobo is what every thing plugs into and if you get a cheap one it can give you hard memory errors like my old xfx one did. But AUSU is a good company so i guess you could try it out. ANd you dont need the best video card to play WOW.
