Upgrading RAM, PSU, Sound, GPU & Monitor

I have decided to do a Spring upgrade.....

My picks are;

-Corsair Dual Channel TWINX 4096MB PC6400 DDR2 800MHz Memory (2 x 2048MB) $43.99 @Tiger Direct Canada
-Creative Labs 70SB088600002 SoundBlaster X-FI Titanium Fatal1ty Pro PCIe Sound Card $206.99 @Tiger Direct Canada
-BFG GeForce GTX 280 Video Card - OC Edition $334.99 @Tiger Direct Canada
-Corsair HX1000W CMPSU-1000HX 1000W $289.99 @NCIX
-LG 24" Widescreen LCD Monitor With 2ms Response Time (W2453V) $299.99 @ Futureshop

I will not yet get a new MB and CPU. I want to wait for the newer 8 core CPU's. Will the PSU be big enough to power those Chips with SLI? Or sould I get a 750Watt Corsair for now and upgrade the PSU later in 1 or 2 years?

What about the rest of my picks? Anything not good? The only thing I purchased already is the monitor. Everything else is still on hold.

Cheers

That 1000HX should be plenty for your SLI setup. Might I suggest a GTX 275 instead of the GTX 280?

GTX280 is a 236w GPU. The 1000hx has power to handle them. Yes, you can get 750tx or 850tx. Also, you can take a look at GXT260 216 sli setup.

Well, 2x a 275 in SLi would be awesome. Pretty expensive though.....
How would 2x 260 in SLi perform in Crysis and other demanding yet to be released games?
How about 2x 250 in SLI?

Thanks for info.

I have decided to go for a GTX260 Core 216 in SLI ($204 each at Newegg). They will perform better than a single GTX285, right? I am still wondering though if I should not get a 285 now and wait a bit to get another on later.......decisions decisions, I hate it!!!

Something I almost forgot, will my Cooler Master Centurion 5 allow SLI with GTX260? Will my PSU (the Corsair HX1000) fit in my case? If it will be very tight, I need to get another case anyway for my daughter (well, she get's my old one and I get the new one....lol). Any advice on which ones? There are some nice SLI certified ones but quite expensive.

Oh my god...... I knew it.....

I actually decided after reading for hours that I might as well go for two GTX285 in SLI.

Now I am facing another issue, is my current system with an E8400 OC'd to 3.6GHz on an Asus P5N-D and 4GB of PC6400 DDR2 RAM going to have any issues with a pair of GTX285 in SLI?

Will it be an absolute must to upgrade to Vista 64bit. Being able to only use 3GB in 32bit, will that bottleneck the system?

I will use the Corsair HX1000W PSU and the Coolermaster HAF 932 Case to make it run and fit.....
