All that voltage to the memory could be causing the memory to overheat and get errors. I would download and run memtest for a longer period than takes you to get the freeze in the game. If you don't have a fan on the memory, you might try that.

Do the current settings pass linx?

Watch your temperatures! Don't run this program without watching your temperatures closely, even with watercooling be careful on the first pass. And recheck it to make sure you're not building up temp after a while, like the room going up 10 degress.

Also here is the memtest to run, gotta put it on a CD and boot into it, at least that's how I ran it. http://www.memtest.org/

If the machine doesn't run a good amount of time of memtest (some say 24 hrs), I give it 3-4 hours and call it stable, if it doesn't then the memory is the problem as no CPU is utilized, it could also be any pathway into or out of the memory. Too tight timings, ect ect.

ok, so 4 hours of memtest passed at 1.65v, then i ran linX and it passed 8 runs until BSOD, at 4.0ghz with +130mv, temps were 83,83,79,79 and had been at these temps for 50 mins, any ideas, too hot? bad OC?

Sounds too hot for me. Try lowering the core voltage a bit. Like see if it boots with +40 or 60mv instead of 130. This was a funny concept for me because my i7 860 wanted 1.34ghz or more for 3.8-4ghz stable, but the 930 likes way less. The memory working after 4 hours sounds like it's good.

Also, might try and get it stable with under 4ghz first. Then up it little bit by bit, when it goes unstable you then try different settings, "one at a time" to figure out the culpret instead of adding voltage to everything.

I'm at 3.89ghz right now, core only at 1.216v, when I add voltage to everything, I get errors early and more heat. Sometimes less voltage is ok, but you'll have to figure out which settings are going to work for you.

SO, I suggest try lowering your BLCK at few, maybe 183-187 and 21 multi, drop the voltage on the CPU a bit and see if it boots and likes lower voltage.

got my temps down to idle 40,41,40,38
and load 73,73,70,68
the crashes have stopped but in linX i get stopped after 3 mins,
according to i7 overclocking guide i need to raise my QPI PLL voltage, default is 1.1v but in bios i can only find cpu pll which default is 1.8

I'm pretty sure that QPI is different than PLL, and have different voltages in the bios

QPI = quick path interconnect

PLL = Phase Lock loop (syncs the different frequencies I think)

+130mv is way too much.

I have it on default voltage for the core and +20mv for the uncore to hit 4.0. (not trying to boast but to show you.)...

Bloodrage GTi owner here. I joined the i7 club a little late and the GTi was the only model still active. This mobo has been great to me from day one. I keep my 920 @ 3.6GHz 24/7 with no hiccups. I don't feel sad leaving EVGA and the problems I've had with their mobos.

This is my first "off the main brand" mobo and I'm very pleased. I don't plan on upgrading my mobo or cpu for some time so hopefully she'll last.
