Just in case if anyone is wondering about the mounting, newegg also sells their similar for cheaper price.

Hmmm..

I too currently have a Xiggy Dark Knight, and I had been looking for information on Xiggy's new ATI775 Crossbow Kit. Seems that is the solution for what most Xiggy owners want, but I can't find anyone who sells them! It was either find one of those to do the job though I am not even sure it is exactly the right thing; or go find an Arctic Cooling Freezer 64 Pro, which are also seemingly becoming rare and hard to find... but they're still available on Newegg for about $20...

But then, I already have my Xiggy Dark Knight, and I feel it should be doing significantly better then it already is based on the reviews I had read about it before I bought it... it should do better, if I could only get it mounted Vertically as opposed to Horizontally; but I'm just not sure; I don't even know how much of a difference it would make in my CPU Temps to have my Xiggy Dark Knight mounted Vertically...

So I have been looking for cheap solutions to do it... and stumbled on this particular Thread!

So now I am curious, how exactly does this custom bracket work? Am I going to have to remove my Motherboard to install it; or do I just screw it right on in place of the existing AM2+ bracket?

Will it also work, on an AM3 Socket? As I plan to upgrade, soon, to an AMD 890GX motherboard and may want to use my Dark Knight on the new PhenomII x2 555BE, that I am getting for that Motherboard...

So, it either this custom solution, or I get one of those Arctic Cooling Freezer 64 Pro's...

^^^Keep that Xiggy, it performs way better than that Artic Cooler.

As for your question about using the mounting of this, yes, you will have to take your motherboard out of the case and screw the new bracket on. Only thing is, you should pay attention to, is your RAM sticks as it may appear to block the cpu cooler (especially big memory modules).

I don't know if there's a youtube video to display some demo of instruction, but you can try to find it. I am sure someone else here posted tutorial with pictures in here as well. Just have to find them somewhere in this thread.

Hope this helps. I am doing this method too once I upgrade to new parts (mobo, memory & cpu) Good luck!

cjc75, keep that xiggy and get naflijhy's custom mount so you'll be vertical with back exaust fan. Also, you may want to invest in a pair of 120x38 fans and some quality tim like ocz freeze, mx-3, or ic7.

Remove the am2 mount and screw down the custom mount into the motherboard backplate. You may have to remove the mobo if the case dose not have an access hole in the motherboard tray.

Am2 Am2+ Am3 are all the same mounts.

Hrrmm... Well I am looking for a cost efficient way to do this that doesn't require me having to take my motherboard out.

I'm frustrated with my current Xiggy, cause I can't push my Phenom II over 3.6ghz without my temps pushing into the high 50's. I can get it running nice and stable at 3.8ghz, but then it will idle at about 50 even or in high 40's, and then push into the 60's under load.

I honestly believe this is because of the way my Xiggy is mounted when compared to the normal airflow in my case. At present, with it at around 3.6ghz, I'm idling in the high 30's and pushing high 40's under load.

I can get it to idle in the mid 20's if I open my room window on the right kind of day though! lol

Anyone know anything about Xigmatek's new Crossbow ACK ATI775 kit? I keep trying to contact them for more information about it ever since it first appeared on their website a year ago...

But alas, I am getting very disappointed with Xigmatek; their products are getting harder to find, and every time I try to contact their U.S. Customer Support through their website Web Form, or direct email link; its sent back to me saying it was undeliverable, and the phone number never works for me... Its almost as though they've dumped their U.S. offices, but never said a word about doing so, only its been like that for the passed year for me. Seems absurd that they would keep false contact info posted on their website for a year...

Also, how does that Enzotech bracket work? It looks to me like it just replaces the existing AM2/AM2+ bracket; and then the Cooler is mounted on that using the coolers existing intel spring clip brackets that came with it?

Oh and lastly...

I have a number of 120 fans; and I only use either Ic7 or AS5; I don't see much difference between those two though.

i'm not sure about the new crossbow mounting kit but i can give you an idea of how the enzotech bracket works.

like you said, you would need to replace the current AM2 bracket and use that one. On your xiggy, you would need to use the intel mounting kit that came with the HSF. you would need to remove the spring loaded screws so the enzotech mounting kit will stick out of the holes. from there, you would need some M3 thumb screws to pressure mount it that way.

i personally feel that this is a real pain in the ass. a member discovered that by using 3/4" 6-32 threaded screws, you could just screws the whole HSF with my mount into the original backplate of the mobo.

now i don't have an AMD system so i don't know if you would have to remove your motherboard or not to do that.
