What games can't your pc handle?
At what resolution do you play?

If you can hold out to the 300 series then sure do that.
If you can't then a 285 will go a long way.

purchasing a 285 actually is a waste of money, give it 2-3 months

1) the prices of the 200 series will drop like a rock, ATI are expected to released there first 5000 series near end july-april

8800gt is just like my 8800GTX they are very good cards still and are only just feeling the pressure, holding of now means your getting more performance for buck when the 300 comes.

it will also have direct x 11, which in the eyes of developers is great, direct x 10 had seriouse problems.

i say from this point onwards alot of people should really hold of, and get one when price drop or get the 300 series. I was tempted to get the 200 series but backed away.

If you keep waiting you'll never buy anything. There is no confirmed ETA for the GTX 300 series. Everything is currently speculation. No one really knows 100% sure how much big of a jump it will be, and you probably will not need DX11 for any games for a few more years, at least. Might as well just wait for Larrabee too. Hell, how about waiting for the GTX 400 series? Those are going to smoke the 300s... No, wait for the 500 series.. No... see where I'm going with this? You'll never be able to stay on top no matter how long you wait.

If the itch to buy comes, then just buy already.

no point to sli it... i have 88gt allso and there wasn't big difference. w8 for dx11 cards otherwise you will need to upgrade later because of this.

Yeah you can't do SLI with your motherboard so the best suggestion I can give is to get yourself an 4890 1GB and OC that sucker to about 1Ghz/1.2Ghz and watch it fly.
