The CoolerMaster Elite Club - Page 53

I have had this case mod in mind for a while, but I have been putting off to do it. Adding a 4th drive bay on a 430 Elite

There is a whole bay under the front panel audio, USB, and would be 1394 port

If you would rather have an extra bay than the stock front panel cluster.. Grab a dremel.

You can always just add a multi card reader combo or what have you to support your little dirty front panel deeds.

I purposly under cut a little so I can trim to fit. This is just an example of what can be modded, modd at your own risk.

There is a slight lip as you can see caused by the cases design. I sat the fan control flat with the dvd drives, the lip is right between a 1/4 and an 1/8th inch. Maybe another fan control or drive will contour or you can play to get a closer fit.

This thread was my motivation to go ahead and execute this modd, who else could benefit from this but other elite owners. yessir.gif

Awesome thread, given me plenty of ideas on what to do for a future build.

I moved my stuff into a (slightly) bigger case so that I could use a Radeon HD 7870 Ghz edition. Previous case was tiny and cramped; poor airflow had my CPU rocketing to above 65C (albeit with a stock cooler) when using dual graphics technology, along with a HD 6570.

Have since moved all of it into a Cooler Master Elite 330U. It's not the greatest for cable management - there are no grommits or cable pass-throughs; even the motherboard cutout isn't big enough to remove the Hyper 212 Evo's backplate without having to take the motherboard out - BUT given the great low price, it really offers value for money.

Also, this is my first ever build, so I haven't gone all out on anything. biggrin.gif

Im aiming to get two new fans though - the current ones (front intake - Cooler Master Sickleflow, rear exhaust - Cooler Master stock case fan) are both 3-pin fans, and i want to replace them with 4-pin PWM fans so i can get full control of them through Asus AI Suite.

Currently considering Cooler Master BladeMaster 120mm ones.. They are the only larger PWM fans I can find here, can only find 90mm PWM ones from Arctic Cooling.. Quite pathetically, I can't find anyone here in Johannesburg selling Noctuas. Also, I'm not the biggest fan lighting, so i stay away from fans with LEDs.

Along with using a Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo, I've also bumped up the speed on my A8-3850 from 2.9Ghz to 3.1Ghz, without any big increase in temps. I run the heatsink fan in standard when doing some light gaming, or turning it down to silent when downloading or watching vids. Overall fan noise is a bit high due to the tiny blower fan on the Radeon's stock cooler.

Have managed to use cable ties to flatten the cables toward the side, giving more space for the front fan to pull in air, though I'm stuck with the CPU power cable going over the top of the motherboard and graphics card- need to find a way to tuck that away through the side.

Has good cooling options - fan slots for the front, rear and bottom, and you can add two more fans on the side panel, though i've not mounted any there as yet - it seems to be cool enough for now.

Would love to mod the side panel so that it has a window in it! thumb.gif

Looks good Nexusfire. I would recommend an extension for the cpu power lead so that you could route it behind the mobo tray. Other than that, just some cable ties to clean up the bottom and your airflow should be quite good.
It's so little!

I just started my first buid/casemod using a Elite430.I will post pictures soon. thumb.gif

Hi fellow Elites! I'd like to be added to the list with my 430. It's in a continual state of upgrade/changing but these are the latest photos.

After going through this thread full of great cases I have a few new ideas. Seriously, there are some great mods going on here.

Hopefully I get these pictures right! lol

The clearest picture right now.
IMAG1026.jpg

Put a 140 in front and moved the stock 120 to the back and added two 120's to the top. Trying to decide on another in the bottom or on the side.
IMAG1027.jpg

My R7870 Hawk biggrin.gif and the Seasonic X850 are the latest additions.
IMAG1030.jpg

CM "Laser Quality" LED's. LoL! I like the idea of changing them out as someone here did. Fortunately mine are just searing the side of a bookcase so they don't annoy me much. tongue.gif

@1EvilMan

Put a 120 in the bottom, the best intake place left, although you will need to make the feet of the case higher because at standard they are far too close to the surface its sat on, an extra half inch should do it...

Did a major upgrade to my computer, will upload pics.
I'm one of those PC users who are happy sitting just behind latest tech, therefore not buying the best out but something that's about a year old but still performs today's tasks with ease, mainly due to lower budget.
Upgraded:
Motherboard - Asus M5A97
CPU - AMD Phenom II X4 965 (Stock 3.4 GHz, OC'd to 4.0 GHz)
Graphics Card - HIS Radeon HD 6850 (Fitted with Arctic Cooling Accelero TwinTurbo Pro)
Power Supply - Cooler Master Elite 500 (Sprayed black and wires individually sleeved black and white)

Existing Parts:
RAM - Corsair Vengeance 1600 MHz 8GB (2X 4GB)
CPU Cooler - Zalman CNPS9500 (Black with Green LED's)
Case - Cooler Master Elite 430
Extra Fans - 5X Xigmatek Crystal 120MM
Hard Drives - Samsung 250 GB and Hitachi 320GB

Thumbs up if you spot my hand mini Vice biggrin.gif

Elite 371 here. It's not bad - lightweight, lots of cooling options, and looks decent.

I looked at that but with my psu a 120 fan won't fit. Looks like I'll have to go to a 90. I like the feet from this place. http://www.mnpctech.com/casemodstore.html They have a few different styles.

BTW, your case rocks!
