Ground up build, new to AMD, need advice

Hey there, I'm new to these forums and just getting back into computer building/gaming after a long girlfriend induced hiatus, and am building an amd system, I would appreciate any advice you could give me as to the parts I have selected. Because you know, personal experience far outweighs crap internet advertising.

Plans for this build are overclocking, gaming, and minor media encoding/burning.

Preferred budget is around 2500, but will go to 3000 for better gains.

Amd 4000 $ 370
dfi lan party sli dr expert $ 230?
muskin redline pc4000 2x2x512 $ 370
xfx 7800gtx (clocked @ 490) $ 515
3 x 36 gb raptors $ 315 (raid 0, will add raid 1 storage later)
4 x nec 3540a $ 180 (must burn a lot of discs for my band)
pcp&c 510 asl $ 235
asetek water coolin kit $ 220

total $ 2435

I hope to be able to raise the fsb to 250 at 12x, to get full use of pc4000 ram, need rock solid stability though. This looks to be a decent system for a year or so, I plan on building again once the intial socket M2 storm has subsided. I have a 2.53 northwood now, so even buying some emachine from fry's would probably be better... but I'd prefer to do this.

I already have all the little crap like monitor, case, xp, and wingie dingies...
Most prices are from vendors out of CA, because I really dont wanna pay tax here.
???
Do the 3 36 gb raptors make more sense tahn 2 74gb? I don't care about total space, I just want raw speed from the 300 to 350 range.
Has anyone had experience with this memory, or could recomend something else? I want a 3.0ghz proc 250x12, will the 4000+, pc 4000, and watercooling be up to the task?

Thank you for reading my spiel.

It all looks very SWEET
If you plan on OCing you could get a lower rating because it will OC fine!
ie a 3700+ will OC just as well as the 4000+ you are considering

That is true... the 146 with a 10x or 148 with a 11x is a very good option!

Your pricing is pretty far off,but your parts look good. For instance, you can save $100 bucks on those 2 hard drives alone. Btw, do you feel you need an SLI mb? You don't need to spend nearly that much on a mb if you're only looking for a 250 fsb.

OH... on the Raptors... the 74 is a better unit... w/fluid bearings , the 36 uses ball bearings!
Go to the HD section benchmark check out the results... especially if you are going to RAID them

Yes,they do. They're simply San Diegos relabelled. You might have a hard time finding them in stock.

Yes they do!
They are Model 144, 146, 148, 150 and 152
They use a different 7th diget on the OEM units...

For those unfirmiliar...
Opty 939s... the Model 144 OEM part # NOTE the "D" in the 7th didget
OSA144DAA5BN
The 940s use a "C" code
Opty 939 BOX NOTE the BN designating the 939 the 940s do not have the "BN" in the part #
OSA144BNBOX

above from a previous post of mine!

DArn if I cant find some of the links... but ewiz.com had the 148s yesterday!
