i've never had prime95 clean 3 hours but not 8.

i just do 3 hours of each test now & call it stable.

I have a little question, I'm getting 4.1Ghz (no HT) on 1.26v easily (haven't tried going lower on the vcore). And 4Ghz with HT turned on on 1.28vcore (haven't tried going lower on that either). The thing is though, any attempt to get to 4.2Ghz will land me a bsod 5 seconds into the linx test (which is basically when it'll start doing something).

I've tried setting it to 1.318vcore, 211*19, 210*20 and 21*200 (no HT) will just not work. QPI voltage on all was 1.31 just to be sure. I have seen some other people having trouble getting to 4.2 but reporting that 4.1 is 100% stable. I don't really feel like pushing to 1.35vcore (and the pll is already 1.88 on the 4.1Ghz, I could probably do 1.86 or perhaps 1.84, but I just haven't tried it yet).

Could be the ram holding you back, have you tried loosening the timings & see how far it gets?

I had set it to 1.62v on the dram, clocked at ~1200mhz. Auto timings, if I'm correct CL9 settings when I looked into the CPUz tab.

Give me a sec to get all my settings

Finalizing a 4GHz OC with the 20x multiplier on my EX58-UD3R and i7 920 D0 3849B.

Just spent the last 30 hours or so testing clock skews via trial and error, testing stability with 500 iteration runs of LinX (Prime95 is already good to 48+ hours at any skew settings I've used).

I've settled at:

200MHz BCLK
20x CPU multiplier
19x Uncore multiplier (3.8GHz NB)
102MHz PCI-E
250ps CPU clock skew
150ps IOH clock skew

1.2 vcore load (1.29375 vcore VID set in BIOS, LLC OFF)
1.34v uncore (QPI/VTT)
All other voltages manually set to stock.

I'm testing in a 30+C room and my maximum temps in LinX 64-bit are 83C, on the hottest core.

HT is enabled (I make good use of it).

I've had prime clear 12 hours, but not 24, and 24 but not 26.

I've also had LinX fail on the 344th pass.

All these examples are cases of instability, and for anyone seriously concerned with stability, any failure is completely unacceptable.

I require at least 24 hours small FFTs, at least 24 hours large FFTs, and two 500 iteration runs of LinX with no errors before I call a CPU OC stable.

4.5 GHz (x22 - this is the Intel board so it can do this multiplier consistently)
4.3 GHz (x21)
on air (Zalman CNPS10X for now, Mugen 2 coming soon)

i7-920 FPO/Batch #: 3849B028

BIOS settings:
BLCK - 205
Vcore - 1.3125v
DIMM - 1.7v (required when I past 200 blck-- was BSODing otherwise b/c mem is now OC'ed from 1600 to 1640)
Uncore - 1.2v (default)
IOH - 1.125v (also required past 200 blck, guess it's mem-related)

Temps:
Idle 40's, full load 70's

Running Prime95 and IBT caused a standard fail in IBT, so I upped the voltage 1 notch to 1.325v since this was taken. It looked stable, but Prime95 BSOD'd overnight.

Not sure how to find out if I need to increase vcore again, or dimm/uncore/IOH voltage. I'll just use trial and error for now I guess.

How did you get the 920 with a locked 20x multi to do 22x?

On my asus board, I can do 21x as a result of their bios.

I wasn't aware of any way to run it higher than that?

It runs at 22x when "CPU C State" in the Power tab is Enabled, and you are idling or using 1 thread (Prime95 with 1 worker for example). I think you can also force it all the time if you limit the BIOS to 1 core, but that's obviously counterproductive.

So you're right, in most cases it's running at 21x.
