Foxconn A7DA/A7DA-S Owners' Club - Page 9

From what I've heard foxconn does there nb's different then other motherboard maufactuers, idk what they mean no explaination ever given, does the gx boards not have nbvid setting maybe? hmm I'll have to play around when I get home and see if I raise nbcore voltage and see if it scales the nbvid maybe, and try that beta bios, did that beta bios fix the ht to nb relationship problem?

so far the remaining problems with the beta bios are:

1) the temp sensor issues. cpu temp will only be valid once it reaches above 40c

2) bios cpu speed is way off the mark once northbridge speed is greater than the hypertransport speed by 1000mhz (i'm really not sure the exact value, but it's somewhere between 700-1000mhz)

3) ht multi is limited upto 10x even if you put 11 or more

I stumbled across this while doing a search on beta BIOS's for this board so count me in. I'm going to be water cooling my dual 4890s but would like to know from those who may be doing so, what block solutions have been found to work well with the NB? Thanks to the OP for the thread, nice job and hope to contribute over time and learning much from it.

I've heard this waterblock works fine with the A7DA-S Northbridge (I would get it myself if I watercooled)

Hi guys can i join your club??? TIA.....

actually its 3.6ghz 3dmark detects the bios settings and not the AOD's.....

I've unlocked the fourth core of my 720be using the P06 bios version(downgraded from p08), unfortunately that's the farthest that i can go, sadly the fourth core is unstable can't even boot windows it just bsod at startup.....

The p06 bios is way too buggy the multiplier settings are not working your stuck at default speed always, and unlocking the 4rth core by setting the acc to auto is a pain in the *ss you'll have to restart your pc 3 times until it boots normally....wheeesh.....

at first I've tried unlocking the fourth core @ stock voltage and can't successfuly boot in windows, then bumped the vcore to 1.4v still same result...

I don't know, maybe that locked core is truly unstable and unfortunately what i got is a harvested batch with a hidden defective core....

I might try it on a different mobo...

I can't get this board to recognize my Radeon HD 4890. Any ideas?

[EDIT: Additional info] Every time I boot up my system, it runs on the onboard graphics, and doesn't detect any new hardware. I've tried reordering the graphics bootup in BIOS, but that didn't help. Disabling the onboard graphics in bios makes the machine unbootable, and I have to reset the cmos.

In the Bios, under the memory settings and stuff there is a setting GFX0-IGX-GFX1 or something if you have your 4890 in slot one then it should be GFX0 first i believe.

Yep, I did that.

The card's fan spins, but Device Manager doesn't read anything other than the onboard graphics. I'm running Windows 7 76000 x64 bit, by the way.

Attempting to update the driver only results in the onboard graphics driver being updated. Uninstalling it doesn't help, either.

I noticed this board's manual says to plug straight in the motherboard, but my card's socket plugs straight into the PSU. The card is getting power, though.
