1600Mhz Ram showing 800Mhz in Cpu-z

Thread Starter
Hi everyone, I just built my first computer so im pretty new to the whole computer tweaking world. I got the computer running with windows vista ultimate 64, but it seems like its lagging a bit when loading programs. I'm suspecting my memory is not running like its supposed to. I manually set memory clock to 1600mhz, voltage to 1.8v, latency 9-9-9-24 in bios. Not sure what to set the Bank Cycle Time (tRC) at. Cpu-z is showing 800mhz instead of 1600mhz. Is this correct or is something wrong with my settings? I would appreciate some help, thanks.

It's correct. DDR stands for Double Data Rate meaning it's doubled, so 800MHz x 2 = 1600MHz.

Thanks for the help guys. What about tRC, does it matter what i set it at?
DDR2

Double Data Rate x2

In your BIOS in displaying the effective speed while in CPU-Z it is showing the speed before the x2.

Yah, i'd go with auto, if its the setting I think it is. Really the CAS and the next four latencies are what count the most, 7-7-7-21, and I dont know what ddr3 has as a clock cycle for ddr2 it would look like 4-4-4-12-1.

Leave ram settings on auto, except for timing settings that affect the entire timing of ram with motherboard-- OC chargers, TRD levels, Nvidia weird stuff and so on.

That's normal for ddr2 just multiply it by 2 and that gives you 1600 it gives the clock of your ram not the effective clock

Looks like you have these. Only need to set your main timings, CAS, RAS, tRAS... the rest you can leave on Auto. Shows 9-9-9-24 and I believe 1T with 1.8V. ASUS may know sub-timings you can use but Auto should be fine unless someone else on the forums that has the same memory can help you out
