Don't buy a tri-core EXPECTING to unlock a fourth core. Chances are slim that you'll get a good, stable fourth core.

But like Lemon drips said, the 4th core is unstable.

For example: I have my 4th core unlocked and running stable at 3.1ghz, if I bump up to 3.2ghz I start failing P95 after 20-30 minutes on the 4th core. It's also managed to screw up most program based temperature programs, so I only see the overall CPU temp and not per core.
Considering that 3.1 is a 500MHz oc, thats not that bad. Ive found on average that AMD's will oc 500 mhz with almost no voltage increase.

ACC stands for (Advanced Clock Calibration) Also not all boards with acc can unlock the 4th core I have a cpu that was made in the time frame that are unlockable and I can't do it unless I get a different mobo.
Bob
unlockable date for the Pii 720BE and 710BE are 0904 and 0906 09 = year 04 and 06 = week there are two other dates from 08 but I don't have them with me if anyone wants them let me know and I will find them for you

Don't update bios also
Most new bios disable unlocks (for some reason AMD likes more profit.. losers)

Example my teacher ordered a Biostar 790GX + SB750 mobo with a X3 720 from me. First thing I did was update BIOS and try to unlock. It wouldn't unlock. Put it in my non-updated mobo and it unlocked just fine (sucked @ OC though )

If your lucky, you might get an unlocked X3 with good overclocking capabilities. My 720BE with its unlocked 4th core is running at 3.7Ghz stable with vcore @ 1.512v. So, good luck on your CPU. If you haven't pick up a 720BE yet, try to get the older stock. From what i heard the newer 720BE have their 4th core disabled indefinitely & thats almost impossible to unlock the 4th core.
