Nice to see some actual testing in this regard. I noticed almost immediately how games (and benches like 3dmark06) were noticeably better with HT off.

18% difference in Left 4 Dead? Ouch.

Extra heat and slower performance in games = time to turn it off

Interesting, although i see no negative impacts on having HT on with my machine. Is this only for the 975 or is there more tests showing all i7's?

If its a few percentage points it would be hard to catch (especially given your gpu setup).

Try running 3dmark06 with HT off and on.

So far heres the differnce with HT on and OFF with me

HT on- programs load alot faster when booting into windows
HT off- Less "stutter" in games such as COD4.

Right now i'm running ht on and so far its good.

I have and HT produces higher results. Same with vantage.
