(C0) that is the key, I had/have a C0 e8400 myself that is literally just sitting in my other case in an evga 680i mobo...guess what..4.05 ghz stable max with that and 4.66 ghz for super pi with 1.6 volts through it, E0's just destroy C0's....this processor I currently have at 4.551 ghz with only 1.4 volts, only reason I believe it fails linpack if I put over 2.2 gigs of memory to test is the temp hits about 81 which seems the death knell for stability....I did 2.17 gigs or whatever it shows on that run and that I managed 20 runs stable with. So at this point temps are all that hold it back, not insane voltages like the C0 which even at 4.0 ghz needed 1.4+ volts!

dalekdukesboy, Thats sweet! I have been running into several voltage problems on different runs. I've been able to boot 4.4xx not stable though. Can you post your voltage settings for that 4.55 clock?
I see some of us have moved on....not me! LAM if you want but this 775 platform is still a contender espically with these E8600/8500/8400, so i'm gonna milk this for everything it's worth!

thanks, honestly especially at this speed most applications out there get chewed up and spit out, games included, i3-i7 are great platforms no doubt, and I drool at the idea of a 32nm quad core i7 1366...but for all I do including games I'd see no benefit to upgrade at this point, it's my gpu that is the stinker, even OC'd a gts 512 can't run anti-aliasing on many new games, but otherwise it does ok, so really my gpu is what needs to go, and when games and other apps get to the point were my e8600 is a significant bottleneck, then I'll consider upgrading.

Well my BIOS is still a bit fishy but it works and passes IBT tests. Had bad CMOS checksum error this morning. Beat my previous super pi1m record last night made me happy!

Anyone else had a issue with your RAM timings not changing?

I was trying for 4-4-4-13 @ 840mhz and it showed CL5 timings the same ones I used previously?

I agree! Milking this chip for everything its worth than spending $ on a chip would be lets say not to your benefit when your card is what is in need of a upgrade espically when your a gamer and this duel core will more that handle the job at hand.
Thanks again dale for your individual attention

no problem, glad to do it, gives me a feeling of some satisfaction and worth out of all the hours upon hours of f@##ing around with this setup trying to get the best possible overclock I could! I've reseated and reapplied the tim to my processor multiple times to see if gains were noticeable or if somehow it seated "better" or more securely even but mostly as long as it was tight and the tim was decently spread the temps always ended up practically the same...biggest challenge with this setup I'd honestly have to say is giving the cpu enough voltage to be stable yet not overheat...beyond that it's just pesky settings like vtt reference voltages being set right and the pre-set memory timings you need to choose, those are actually the worst thing to get wrong, for if I set them incorrectly the machine won't even boot!

Well, it seams as though this I may have a solid combo when pushing the limits of my system so I figured *** why not see how far this thing can really go on air. Keep in mind that these clocks are for validation only, and no stability testing will be done!
I'll keep you all updated as i go.

Edit: just hit 4.709
