Hi people of the club, I also have a Biostar TPower i45, and further I have a E8500 cpu and 8gb of 1066 G.Skill RAM (F2-8500CL5D-4GBPK). For the longest time I been running my PC with ddr2800 ram, but had to put it in another machine, and use the 1066 ram that has always giving me problems on my setup. I don't believe there's anything wrong with the ram itself, but I can't figure out how to get a stable situation.
Oddly enough, the most stable for me has not been on stock setting, but on OC's where I ran the CPU around 4Ghz... go figure.
I tried going back to 4gb (2x2gb) but that was worse (slower and more unstable). Anyway, my most successful clocks had my system running pretty smoothly, but sooner or later always a freeze occurs (usually during a game or even browsing). It can be 2 hours before anything happens, or not even that when I'm not doing anything demanding.
However, it is clear I have never been able to achieve stability with this ram, but in the beginning I was such a noob that I didn't check the voltages of the ram, just putting in 'auto' for everything, and as it turns out the 1066 ram is supposed to run at +.150 to .200 higher voltage than the 800 ram.
I'd like to be somewhere around 4ghz or 3.8 with my OC, and if possible use the RAM at 1066 freq, although that is no must. What do I do? What are the best timings for me to use, and what settings do I enter in the BIOS? I have tried so many different things my head is spinning by this point. Can anyone please advise?
BTW, my temps are always cool, even on the higher OC's. And my videocard is no monster and I only run 1 HDD, so my Corsair 750 should be able to handle my hardware easy.
